This question has been in my mind for some time now. Each time I communicate with the female gender on any Instant Messenger program there has always been a :], =], :D, :), ^^, ^_^ next to any message they put. so this brings up the questions do girls like smiley faces? And will using smiley faces responding to her smiley faces boost my chances of "getting in her pants" or will it make me look more feminine?

Enviroment, in this specific case, will be instant messengers.
In female-female communication, smileysare definitely a hit, but that´s viewn in comparison to male-male communication, where the use of smileys would be perceived to generally be more modest.
In male-female communication, the sociological construct affecting the way communication is carried out between the two parties, will become more indistinguishable, because that is a setting controlled by other and usually must more relevant factors.
These factors are significant, and should be explained in order to understand the mechanism behind these varying results between homogenous or crossgender communication.
We generally talk about different things.
Women are more inclined to practice emotional support, or to talk about fictional/famous males, real males and last but not least, shared interests.
Males are more inclined to talk about cars, computers, video games, girls or something completely miscellanous and/or sporadic.
It is the atmosphere of these topics that holds the predilections affecting the use of smileys. So it is a setting affecting the code of interaction.
If you find your conversations, as a male, with a female, tend to promote the atmosphere nurturinga code of conduct that promotes the use of smileys, it has more to do with what you are talking about, and little to do with what gender your conversational partner belongs to.
These things should be taken into consideration when applying the use of smileys in order to achieve great justice in bed with her.
