Do I deserve this speeding ticket?

I parked at stanley park in vancouver at 4:00PM yesterday and paid $2 for 1 hour. We came back today at 5:45PM, parkings free at 6PM. Its the winter, it was getting dark and it was raining a little with 15 minutes until 6PM. I thought that whoever the hell is in charge of giving tickets would just call it a day with weather like this and especially since its only 15 minutes to 6PM. We come back 30 minutes later and the little bastard left a parking ticket on the windshield. Like holy hell kid.

The ticket was issued at 5:55PM.... really kid? get a fuucking job.

Do you think I should phone and try to get a discount? What kind of world are we living in?

Rules are rules. You can' t blame that guy for following the orders he had.

Life is not fair.    Guess what happend to me,  I was driving a company vehicle and I got rear ended yesterday.   Police came and all that and said there is no question about who's fault it was.   And I get drug tested because of company policy,  and I'm a bit nervous about it.

At least I get paid to sit at home till the results come back

It maybe free at 6pm but you parked before 6pm.

What you're saying is that they should let people park there for free after 5pm because it's less than an hour before it's free anyway. Not gonna happen.

But by 5:45 you had already stolen 45 minutes and decided to go for another 15! You broke the law and stole an hours parking and got caught!

You arrived at 4, bought a 1 hour ticket that therefore ran out at 5. You got back to the car at 5:45 - basic maths obviously something that passed you by. Words cannot describe how stupid and obnoxious you obviously are. I am very glad I don't know you!

stop being mad, he's just doing his job. calling everyone a "dumbass ****" only makes you look like the kid here, which you probably are.

You paid for an hour, and parked for an hour and 45 minutes and you wonder if you should get a ticket? Seriously? The whole free at 6pm means nothing. You still went over the hour you paid for. Geesh.

1) the person obviously has a job.. his job is writing tickets

2) you paid for 1 hour and tried to get 2.. the ticket is deserved

3) its a parking ticket, not a speeding ticket.

I have to say, this topic is full of win.

Speeding ticket does not equal parking ticket. Get a job... he was doing his "job" which is what makes you mad.

The fact that there are so many stupid parallels we could make to your story and all of them would be just as dumb sounding. I'm pretty sure you are just mad you got caught and therefor not thinking straight.

From a time standpoint:

Let me ask you, would you be mad if someone robbed you right in front of a police officer and he did nothing but sit and watch, sorry man "i'm off work in 15 minutes". I would imagine you'de say, "but you're on work right now so do something."

How about if you go to McDonalds and attempt to order a burger and fries 15 minutes before they close and they say, "sorry dude, I'm off work in 15 minutes please go somewhere else."

On a financial side:

If I go into a restaurant and walk back into the kitchen and just start eating off a plate of freshly prepared food, I should be able to argue (when I get caught) that I shouldn't have to pay for it because it's now practically gone as I had spent the last 10 minutes eating it all up.

Or maybe

If I attempt to sneak into the movies but don't notice that a worker saw me, who then spends almost all of the movie looking aisle to aisle for me but it's simply to dark for him to find me. Then at the end of the movie while the credits are rolling and the lights come up he finally spots me, walks over to my seat and says I need to go with him to pay for the movie I just sat though for free. Now that's bogus right? I mean the movies over man....Get a job kid, it's the credits i'm seeing now, who in there right mind would pay to watch the end credits.
