I haven't seen a car with an ashtray in years. My Prius doesn't have anything even resembling an ashtray (unless you want to drip your ashes in the cup holders). My TL has a change compartment under the radio which has a label that specifically says "Not An Ashtray" but I wouldn't put it past some smokers to use it as one anyway. I don't smoke, so I could care less. But at the same time, I think making new cars without ashtrays is just encouraging some smokers to flick their butts out the window instead.

My 2009 Hyundai Accent has both an ashtray and a cigarette lighter. I believe the "MC" model Hyundai Accent (2006-2011) was one of the last, if not THE last, car to have a cigarette lighter in it. The new 2012 Accent doesn't have one.

The Japanese luxury cars still do because they smoke like chimneys over there. Most cars don't have them anymore though.

My last car with an ashtray (or cigarrete lighter, for that matter) was my '95 celica. No other car since has had either. My current car ('09 Honda Celica SI) has has a sort of power plug which looks conspicuously like a cigarrete lighter w/o the lighter portion. Apparently smoking went out of style, which sucks since I smoke, lol

Nope, they don't have cigarette lighters either, since it is not considered a good idea to smoke while driving.

Well, got no excuse short of stupidity on that one. I currently own a Honda CIVIC si, which should make a whole lot more sense. Too many "C" names for my tiny brain to keep track of........apparently.

Yeah, but German cars are for the arrogant. Although I will admit, the Ford Maxima is a pretty nice car.

Most don't.. People are forced to roll down the window now (thank god)...-GeordiLaForge-

The bigger concern is what to do with the butt. I mean...you can either extinguish the butt in the ashtray, or flick it out the window and onto the street. Personally, I think that the ashtray is the better option, since at least then people are keeping trash in their own cars instead of just throwing it out the window.

Anyway, my car doesn't have an ashtray. It has a cupholder though. I just always keep a cup in the cupholder, and make sure that the cup is half-full of water. No ashtray and I don't want to throw my trash out onto the street? No problem. I just drop it into the butt-cup.

True, throwing a cigarette butt out can get you a hefty fine too. Though I've never heard of it being pursued, I think that you're making the right decision. I hate it when people litter =\ But what do you do about the cigarette butt smell? I can't stand being in a car that wreaks of cigarette smoke...

Well...if I'm gonna be smoking anyway, then it doesn't really matter what I do with the butt. I could flick the butt out the window or drop the butt into a cup. Either way, my car is still probably going to stink. Either way, I didn't even gewt to the butt-disposal step until I had already finished smoking the cigarette.

You want to avoid stinking up the car, then don't smoke in the car. That doesn't really have much to do with how you dispose of the butt after you're done smoking.

On the contrary, if the windows are cracked, the smoke and smell disappear pretty quick. Cars with cigarette butts in them smell 10x worse. Take my dad's last truck for instance. He never used the ashtray in it, and it never smelled like cigarette smoke. He craked the window when he smoked, threw the butt out, and his truck still smelled new when he sold it. Same thing with his current truck and muscle car. They still smell brand new. Our old 96 camaro probably still wreaks of cigarette butts though, lol...
