You know how dog and cat food is specially made to fulfill all your pets nutritional needs and all that stuff? Since we eat basically whatever we feel like eating and often dont get enough fruits, vegatables or vitamins, is it possible that pets that eat pet food eat healthier than us?

It depends if you are getting your pet healthy high quality food yourself and whether or not you yourself eat high quality healthy food.

Well dogs and cats are forced to eat the healthy food since they can't buy their own food, and we lock them up in the house so they can't hunt for their food. SO yes, dogs and cats mostly eat better than us.

Yes, perhaps if dog/cat food is the only thing they could access. My cat however used to throw up whole baby mice it caught (and many a half-digested adult mouse too) and my dogs, well they used to eat dead birds, their own s**t (when they were puppies) and one dead possum I recall.

So no.

If your pet was a solitary fish howver, change that to a yes.

Instead of believing advertising, you should look at the real world. Meats such as chicken that is contaminated with salmonella is processed into pet food. The worker I spoke with said dogs & cats handle any salmonella left after cooking better than people do.

Yes, because animals have a different stomach and bowel flora as opposed to humans. Predatory animals especially have stronger stomachs, so to speak. Funny thing is, humans have nitric-acid like stomach acid, so why we aren't that good at handling salmonella is beyond me.

Cat food is mostly wheat and corn, which they are not evolved to eat. So, no. If we fed them meat like they were supposed to eat, then maybe.

I fixed that for ya :)

As for my pets (4 cats and a dog), I prepare their food for them (for the most part) and I have to admit overall the eat healthier (and arguably tastier) than I do.

Aah... yes. Good for you. Most pet food is not good for them, but there are alternatives of course.

Do you have pets? I remember (I think) your old sig had a picture of a girl with a cat. Just curious.

Yeah, two cats. My gf tries to find food in the store for them that isn't mostly corn - it costs a little bit more. I don't remember which brand it is.

I hear ya. Even a lot of 'fancy' brands (like some of the Science Diet food for dogs) has corn at or near the top of the ingredients list.

I vote no. Most people seem to have no clue what good cat or dog food are. They simply think buying name brand=good food. Truth is it's just like anything else in the world today. It is all about making the money and the name brand companys put a lot into their commercials to convince you that theirs is the brand for you. If you want good food for you pets, you have to read the ingredients. Most of your cat/dog foods start with corn and animal by-product. Corn is nothing but a filler, which is something your pet doesn't digest, but instead is something simply used to make your pet not feed hungry, but they are getting no nutrition from it, yet it is the main ingredient. This is what I feed my cats

Depends on what you feed your pet.

My pets eat the canned stuff, the bagged stuff and table scraps.

They occasionally eat bugs they catch too.

I chuckled at the bugs bit.

The best my dog ever did was............. we were walking in the park and a frog jumped out from nowhere and my doggy snatched it right out of the air and swallowed it in one shot. Kinda felt bad for the frog, but it was hysterical.

For most people, probably, because pets can't just eat whatever they want whenever they want. Plus, they just mainly drink water instead of soda and beer.
