Do people confuse you for another race?

One day at my volunteer job, Another girl volunteer came up to me and asked me for my number in her language (She was indian). I didn't know what she said. She said she wanted my number again but this time in English. She thought I was her race but I'm really a black person. Do people sterotype you as another race? I really hate it when people do this.

Yes, most of my blood is Native American with a hint of French (one French grandfather). Most people think im white, i've been told i look Jewish, Eastern European, Spanish and Mexican... its quite odd. When i tell them i'm Aboriginal they're usually pretty startled, most likely for the fact that i can grow a better beard then most people.

It's kinda hard to confuse reddish hair, fair skin, and freckles with anything else...

But not to the extent where someone has assumed and then spoke to me in another language.

I don't think someone could confuse me for an ethnicity other than white English, otherwise they really need their eyes checking.

Yeah. I get mistaken as a Hispanic from time to time, sometimes people go up to me speaking Spanish. Some asshats thought I was Arabic when 9-11 happened, and harassed me about it. And I get mistaken as a Filipino as well.

I get mistaken for being Italian sometimes, and when I was younger people used to think I was Jewish. I'm Puerto Rican but, yeah, I'm really light-skinned.

No I am very obviously white. But my half-brother gets mistaken for an (Australian) Aboriginal, a (New Zealand) Maori and all sorts of things and he absolutely hates it. He has a german father so his skin is darker than mine but ethnically he is white just like me. It's pretty funny we joke with him all the time :P

Yes people have confused me for puetro rican, white, and asian but I'm dominican. But ever since I got the stache no one even considers I could be white xD
