learn about how they lost the revolutionary war or are they too embarassed to teach them?

Why would anyone be embarrassed about a conflict which took place hundreds of years ago when european nations were still ruled by kings and queens; and ours in particular happened to be literally insane?
:|
Well if we learn about Vietnam, I don't see why they wouldn't learn about that.ElArab
Yes, I am sure England has as many pessimistic teachers as the US does. I sure hope they at least teach their kids about their imperialistic past and how they mistreated people.
My teacher in the US sure badmouthed our country for Vietnam, Cold War, and the current war lol.
Oh i forgot; you also learn about slavery, but that's in primary school when you're like 10/11.Ninja-HippoI did a lot on medieval history. My course was medicine through time.

I dunno, lots of black people still complain about slavery.

It was alright, to be honest. We started off with primitive stuff like trephening and worked our way through Egyptian times, the dark ages etc, all the way to the Renaissance. Then the last few months was spent on the Cold War. :? Now I do British political history 1800-1930, and European History (Russia and German) with focus on World Wars.It was alright, to be honest. How is that anywhere near the same thing? :|
in their text book. they gave the U.S. to us. it was too hard the mange, or something like that. or so i heard.RPG-er
What you heard is nonsense. :|
a) it isn't even taught - so what textbooks do you speak of?
b) when studying american politics for my a-levels, my teacher gave us a summary of how america started out and how the government was set up, during which he explained how England was ruled by an insane monarch, so obviously the new american government wanted to avoid having that happen; and how due to said insane monarch england was caught up in all kinds of war with france, spain, and it's own colonies in america. This resulted in incompetant generals and troops being sent all over the place, who were simply defeated due to their inability to continue fighting so many conflicts.
Nowhere does it say that america was "given"; rather it was taken away because england was at war to such a degree that they couldn't have kept it if they wanted to, which i imagine they most definately did.
One thing i dont understand is the smugness and gloating which still exists from a war which took place so long ago; not to mention the fact that there wasn't even an america then, and that the troops fighting the british were themselves british colonists. :?

Ancient topics, complained about for stupid reasons. I guess I chose a bit more offensive of a topic though.

I wouldn't compare war to slavery, no. Plus slavery lead to centuries of racism remember. So yeah, not the best choice but i see your point. :P

If you think that's bad they also used to "cure" people by completely draining them of blood and then refilling them with blood from dead people. It obviously didn't work once, yet they did it to hundreds and hundreds of people.

Judging by the TC's lack of response, i'm leaning towards the "thinly veiled hate on english people" interpretation...Ninja-Hippo
