I do, yes. Currently I'm feeling some effects of constant cracking in my right middle finger, right at the base.

4. Cracking your knuckles causes arthritis

The knuckles are the joints between the fingers and hand, and these joints contain a lubricant called synovial fluid. When you crack your knuckles, you are pulling apart two bones at the joint, which means the synovial fluid has to fill more space. This decreases the pressure of the fluid, and dissolved gases that are present, such as nitrogen, float out of the area in tiny bubbles. The bursting of these bubbles is the familiar sound we hear when someone "cracks" his or her knuckles. This bubble-bursting is not the same as arthritis, which is when the body's immune system attacks joints. However, constant knuckle-cracking can injure joints and weaken fingers

That's just a myth but there are downsides to cracking your knuckles.

I do it all the time and, even though I know I should stop, I'm not going to any time soon.

What are the downsides of cracking your knuckles? It doesn't cause arthritis so what else is there to be scared of?

And I really hope your not gonna tell me something ridiculous like it annoys other people or whatever. I want to know if you are doing any damage to yourself

As for the harms associated with this habit, according to Anatomy and Physiology Instructors' Cooperative, only one in-depth study regarding the possible detriments of knuckle popping has been published. This study, done by Raymond Brodeur and published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, examined 300 knuckle crackers for evidence of joint damage. The results revealed no apparent connection between joint cracking and arthritis; however, habitual knuckle poppers did show signs of other types of damage, including soft tissue damage to the joint capsule and a decrease in grip strength. This damage is most likely a result of the rapid, repeated stretching of the ligaments surrounding the joint. A professional baseball pitcher experiences similar, although obviously heightened, effects in the various joints of his pitching arm. But assuming you haven't signed a multimillion dollar contract to constantly pop your knuckles, it hardly seems worth the possible risk to your joints.

this one time in my second hour some kid cracked his knuckles, then the teacher did, then i cracked my knuckles, then my neck, then both my knees, then i took my shoes off and cracked my toes, it was hilarious, some people got really grossed out, especially when i cracked my neck because i did it all slowly and on both sides
