Hey, I’ve been wondering—does anyone actually notice a difference when using a VPN for gaming? Specifically, does it help with reducing lag or avoiding ISP throttling? I’m considering trying one out but don't want to mess up my connection. Any VPNs you’d recommend that work smoothly with online games?

They add to the lag. Anything you add between you and the server adds to a delay.

It may reduce throttling of bandwidth, but it would still add to the ping time. A game shouldn't use high bandwidth, so throttling shouldn't be the issue you need to solve, only lag.

Mostly what you want to do is use a wired connection directly to your router/modem, and avoid wireless, avoid VPNs.

Separately, if your ISP sucks, look into different ISPs.
