I find garter snakes sometimes in my yard. Just saw a ribbon snake a little while ago.

Not in my area. We have squirrels and rabbits and other fluffy creatures with the rare opossum, groundhog, or skunk.
Yes, often. If they're the little green snakes I'll pick them up and wrap them around my fingers and they just sit there and chill. The bigger snakes I just let be.
I'd rather have snakes in my yard than vermin.
Yeah, it's not uncommon to see a snake in my yard. A few years ago, we had a bunch living in the stump of a tree we cut down. Occasionally I see one crossing the street while driving through my neighborhood. I don't mind snakes, and they keep the mice and things away.
Not going to find too many snakes in Hawaii, although there have been some cases of people trying to sneak them in the islands.
You kidding? I just pulled a garter snake out of my septic tank a week ago. Damn thing bit me right after I took the last picture (which is why it is looking directly at me), but I just let it go in the cornfield next to my home. I find garter snakes all the time, but I've also seen the occasional copperhead on my property. Almost got bitten by one last year when I was clearing out an old woodpile on a neighboring farm, but I backed my hand away in time just before it tried to bite. Crushed it's head in with a log I was carrying on instinct. I hate copperheads.
I live in a swampy area, so I'll sometimes find water snakes. I actually have one right now. I caught it hoping to photograph it, but it's been sitting around for a few weeks and I still haven't decided on what the shoot will entail, so I'm probably just gonna let it go soon.
Just water snakes, though. That's really about it. I've seen other snakes like rat snakes and black racers and hognose snakes, but those sightings are so rare that they're inconsequential.

There's that Obama guy.
Oh!
I found one in the gutter by our driveway. I didn't want it to get run over, so I captured it, drove up to the mountains, and released it into its natural environment.
I once found a baby snake in my house a few weeks ago. then I found its mother in the kitchen a few days later.
I'm too poor to afford a yard.
Snakes aren't common in the city, just up in the hills you will find some.
as a kid me and my neighbor friend would catch garter snakes all the time... their was a ton of them. we lived close to an area with a lot of rattle snakes but i only ever herd the rattling never actually saw one because i was sure to leave the area when i herd that. and i was once chased buy a couple of rather large pale green snakes that lived under our patio... don't know what they are.
None in HI. Legally anyways.
WTF are you on about? It's not illegal to find snakes in your yard in HI.
He's referring the fact that it's illegal to own a snake or bring them in Hawaii, because they have no natural predators and the risk they pose against the wildlife. If you're caught owning them or bringing them in, you could be hit with 3 years in jail and a $200,000 fine. What few snake that are here are smuggled in illegally. It's actually big news when they're found out here.
I've seen one walking back into the house from my car and only noticed it slithering as I right next to my foot and it scared me because I never seen one before. The only other two I've seen around my house my cat had caught and was digging his teeth and nails into it.
yeah, we get snakes but they aren't as visible as other animals. turkeys have been the trash birds like pigeons around here lately. they suck. they stand outside my window early in the morning and gobble when i'm hung over. i used to honk my horn when they stood in my parking spot but i'm just gonna run them over now, the bastards.
I saw a little black snake outside that my cat had killed a few years ago. I know my mom about 10 years ago was outside and she saw a garden snake in the trees. Had the police come and take it away.

I would have fun with my high powered pellet rifle where you live and would be feeding my family well in the process.
I did at my old house; came within a hair's breath of getting bit by one once. Not at the new place, though; too urban.
One time, at the old place, I went in the bathroom, turned on the overhead fan, and it didn't come on. I shrugged it off, sat down on the toilet, and then a bigass tree snake came out of the fan right over my goddamned head. I screamed like a little girl.
