I find it hard to believe that we evolved from some animals in the past without a skepticism.

Some scientific communities even put evolution as having more valid evidences than even gravity; something which is so profound in our view of the universe.

What's your take on this?

Is it true that if one is to deny Evolution, one must deny gravity as well?

How are you skeptical?

It's the most logical, most accepted theory.

That's why we teach it.

I do believe that animals adapt to their environment to increase their odds of survival, and I also believe that we do not look like the first humans. However, I do not believe we evolved from another animal.

And gravity is just a theory, too.

If you wanna be technical.

And we all believe in it. :)

Well, there are legitimate competing theories of gravity, but no honest competition for Darwinian Evolution in this day and age.

Evolution does have more supporting evidence than our current notion of gravity. The only thing we really have going for gravity is the fact that no one has spontaneously floated into the atmosphere.

I don't even question it. It's supported by every scientific development in any field even vaguely related to it.

Propagation and natural selection of mutations can be observed over even just a few generations of flies kept in a jar. It's not just some wacky theory - it's empirically verifiable, by you, right now.

Well considering it is based entirely on a gargantuan body of facts, not accepting it seems rather silly.

TC, if you are interested in a very recent example of evolution you could try looking into Nylon Eating Bacteria. I think that would provide sufficient evidence for evolution for a skeptic.

Yup. Evolution is pretty much a fact at this point. I'd love to say it IS a fact, but i don't want to cause any offense. I think as time goes by it'll be more and more accepted however. In fact where i live people see evolution as fact, and it's not even an issue.

Well of all the theories of the origins of species evolution is the most plausible in my mind and it has the most evidence supporting it, so i see no reason not to believe it. But i would say i believe it about 98%.

It is a theory, and always will be, but it is not for lack evidence. A theory is an explanation of a set of facts (i.e. natural selection and the like)

People think humans evolved from apes? Like, actually from apes? Are people not aware of the distinction between a "common ancestor" and "direct descendants"?

It is a scientific theory dammit! Any scientist will tell you this, but as I said in an earlier post, it is not for lack of evidence. A scientific theory is an explanation of a set of facts. Such as the fact that animals have been changing for millions of years due to genetic mutation, natural selection, and punctuated equilibrium.

Okay then lets call it a theory that is absolutely undeniable and only a moron would think otherwise, it doesn't take a genius to make sense of it.

Like, I think only Americans don't believe in evolution? No wonder they're not using the metric system, yet.
