I noticed something that some of my friends do that kinda disturbs me. A couple of my friends who own dogs and live in apartment buildings don't always keep fresh water out for their dogs. They only provide them a small amount of water whenever they feed them or when they 'think' the dog is thirsty.

They do this to reduce the times the dog has to be walked or taken out. Having a dog my entire life, one thing I do know for sure is that dogs require water all the time. Their bodies require more water than humans because they are constantly perspiring thru their nose and tongues.

So is this something that anyone else does w/ their dog? I'm just wondering how common this is.

Was always a cat person, but I changed the water every morning. Damn cats being to picky about what they drink.

Well I'd imagine if I went most of the days without something to drink I'd be rather uncomfortable. Shut your friends water off and deprive them of what they love. Word Life.

I used to be a cat person, so we could just leave food and water out and they would drink/eat whenever they happened to be hungry. But now I have a dog (a rottweiler, actually), and we're pretty good about constantly having water out for her. It's a kinda small bowl for such a big dog, but she probably drinks three bowls of water a day.

I don't have a dog but my roommate does. I try to keep water out if I see it's empty. That's weird that people wouldn't.

I just keep a couple of bowls of water around. When the water levels get low, I refill them. Simple as that.

I give my dog a fresh bowl a water each day. Top it up in the afternoon if it needs to be and give him 2 bowls on a hot day.

I would if I had a dog, and could be bothered to get him fresh water.

Bold = Exactly why I don't have a dog.

My dog always has a bowl of fresh water it can go to, to drink whenever its thirsty, seems a bit stupid what your friend is doing.

I replace the water for my dogs at least 3 times a day (assuming it isn't empty already). Not replacing/filling up your dogs water is fairly lazy and irresponsible.

The dog always has a supply of fresh water. It's replaced at least once a day, if not more.

Just a quick bowl of water every morning is all you need. It literally takes 2 minutes.

I have 2 cats, I don't change their water daily. The reason being that they rarely ever drink their own water anyways, they always go in the sink and drink the water that is sitting in the dishes or dripping from the tap:lol:
