I believe they can teach us a great deal about ourselves and human nature. Whether they actually happened or not is irrelevant in my opinion.

nevermind about them pal, i was referring to your land and its stories not mine only, there are proofs, like dwarka kingdom under water and the lord rama's pool, and all.

what coot said makes a lot of sense, well all these scriptures do teach us a lot of things about human nature, like what to do to aviod depressionism, or in terms of moral aspects, which type of decisions what of kind of people take and all, i am referring to religious articles ofcourse.

Folktales, no. Legends, no. Cultural myths, no. However, some of those often times have basis in a real event. Religious stories, depends on the religion. *cough*

i don't believe in them, but i find Buddhist legends interesting, and find Ancient Greek, ancient roman, ancient egyptian, Chinese and Japanese mythology interesting as well.

Depends, I like to pick and choose, which ones I find believable.

In general thugh the answer would be, no, they are more allegorical than anything else
