Do you believe it when films say "based on a true story"?

Ihardly everbelieve it. I just see it as a tagline to just promote the film even more which includes films like The Exorcist and Hostel. What about you?

'Based' doesnt mean its a word-for-word tale of something that really happened. I just take it as a story thats based on a real life incident.

And being 'based' doesn't mean that the director's artistic licence is revoked :P

"Based on a true story" could mean that anything is vaguely simliar in any sense. So to answer your question, yes I do believe it.

It's just the basis not the actual story. The best movies are based on a True story but the Names, Places, and Events have been changed.
