If you buy a game, do you...buy limited, or regular edition?

Depends on how much I want the game, which, usually, I don't want it that much.

I sure as hell will be getting the limited edition ACII this year though.

Regular normally. I once saw Gears of War 2 being sold in Limited Edition for £50. When the regular version was currently being sold for £25.

The limited edition versions are usually way overpriced, just for one extra small artbook or random DVD about how they made the game. Basically, useless crap which you'll never use, which would never have been worth the extra money in the first place.

If I like the game or the LE itself I go with the special edition.

If I have the money and like the game enough, I'll cop the LE version.

I rarely, if ever, buy a collector's edition.

Usually ionly buy regular edition. It really depends what the limited/special editions are offering. Usually its just cheap stuff. I considered getting th limited edition of Fallout 3 for the pipboy clock, but i did some research on it and it turned out to be really cheap clock, and thats all. No alarms or anything. Cheapo.
