Mostly but some crappy movies manage to get high ratings which pisses me off. An 8.5 for Avatar in IMDB?Seriously? *raises flameshield*
Somewhat...but only really good or bad reviews:
If something gets all 10's or 5/5's or whatever I am going to probably watch it (even if I was not interested in it)
Conversely, if something get all 1's I am most likely going to avoid it like the plague
For 'normal' scores/reviews, I trust my 'gut', my peers, and you guys
I don't really care about scores or numbers and I rarely rate a movie with a number or grade myself unless specifically asked to do so. I'm more interested in what the reviewer has to say and how they say it. It's also very important to note whether or not it's a genre film or not as those heavily lean towards a love it or hate it type of approach.
I dont really care much for movie reviews. Simply because I like to form my own opinion on them. If I watch it and I dont like it, then I will know its bad. If I watch it and like it, then I know its good. My own opinion defeats anyone else that tries to feed me theirs. Everyone can have their own opinion, but I like to have mine too. *shrugs*
Its kind of like Paranormal Activity. That movie gets bad reviews all over the place. I like it. I thought it was very good, only a few parts that were kinda 'eh'. But overall I liked it.
I have not seen Avatar. Reviews I have heard were that is basically Ferngully, with wikkid graphics. Will I watch it? Yea probably cause I wanna see for myself.
No. I'm not gonna let some basement-dweller (Except the reviewers at GS  )tell me what and what not to watch/play .
Not really.
Speed Racer has like a 37% positive review average on Rotten Tomatoes, with criticisms often centered around lack of story and overused special effects, but I thought it was a fantastically cheesy movie with a great cartoonish storyline and a really well-done visual style, basically the perfect cartoon movie.
I agree with the critics in a lot of cases, but mostly in cases where I already knew I would/wouldn't like the movie without looking at reviews.
They can push me over the edge if a movie I'm not sure about gets really fantastic reviews, but other than that, I just don't give a damn about them.
I sometimes look at them to get an idea of what a film is like, but to me their opinion means nothing. There are plenty of films that got bad reviews that I ended up enjoying like Tideland, Speed Racer, Running Scared, 8mm, Storytelling, and Palindromes. Reviews can be a good guide sometimes though.

Well, I'm not religious about reviews, to the point of one good/bad review dictating whether or not I watch it.
But reviews MATTER.
Firstly, I'm not rich. I have limited money, and I have things to do with my money other than watching movies that suck. Movies often get cut out of my budget, particularly if the general opinion is that the movie sucks butt.
Secondly, I love my friends, but many of trhem have HORRIBLE taste in movies. Just god-awful taste in movies. If I forego professional reviews by people who are PAID to critique movies, then I sort of have to go with word-of-mouth (considering my limited budget). And...for me, word-of-mouth SUCKS. I'm better off sticking with reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
So that's the gist of it. I have a limited budget and don't have much money to spend on movies. Word of mouth also sucks, since most of the people who I like and respect have horrible taste in movies. So...I usually stick to reviews.
Not really. They have far less influence than game reviewers.
If a film gets bad reviews I won't see it, but I often strongly disagree with reviewers on films I've seen.
No, I don't even read them. I'm critical enough about movies to decide whether or not it's good, and usually a summary of the story will make me decide whether or not I'm gonna watch that movie. The only thing I use as some kind of indication of a movie's quality is its user score on imdb.com.

movie scores are just ridiculous.. couples retreat with vince vaughn was quite funny movie. i liked it. and the metacritic score for it is like so low...so scores for movies are not to be taken serious....I watch a bunch of movies that dont even get a 50 out of 100 in review scores. Do you care aboutreview scores or do you watch it no matter what if your interested in it?

watch a trailer for a movie. if it looks good then watch it...It saves me from seeing crappy movies so yes.

I usually end up agreeing with reviews. But two other factors that usual draw me to movies are "g-dom" and "realism" hence why I love movies like Eastern Promises/Children of Men/The Road but I can't stand movies like Juno or the Dark Knight
