I know most people don't. But I've noticed a lot of people enjoy bashing on music because It's either "too old" or "too new".
I couldn't care less about the age myself. I used to. Back when I was a 13 year old Led Zeppelin fanboy (I'm 15 now).

No. But there is a distinct decline in musical ability and creativity for me but thats just my opinion.
True and untrue. A lot of the older stuff is awful as well /cough/F.R. David/cough/No. But there is a distinct decline in musical ability and creativity for me but thats just my opinion.

Fair point. But i must say, i think the newest thing i have on my walkman is a year old. All mediums of culture are getting worse and worse in my generation imo. The only thing thats still good to me is South Park. Rush have an album out this year though so i'm hopeful.
Well I would falcon punch (jk) someone if they had a cookie cutter taste in music, ex: only listens to indie, oldies, or new stuff, and disregard whether is good or not. I prefer listening to certain songs from any genre, and era, just as long as is good Im not bound to any category for the most part just more fond with some genres than others.
I'm going to say I don't care, but the majority of my library is music from this decade. The 80's and 90's classics I listen to on the radio.
I tend to stick to bands that are relatively new, not because I'm a hipster, but I think it's easier to get my head around them. With a band like U2, I like them okay, but it's intimidating when they have around 10 albums. Feels like I've already missed that train.
Just putting it out there. I just took a blast to the past...
Bily Idol, one of my guilty pleasures
No not at all. I just wish I would have found out about certain bands sooner than I did (Blind Guardian, Falconer, Wuthering Heights, and Tyr to name a few). :P
Not at all.
Today I listened to Barbra Streisand, Fleetwood Mac, and Billy Joel. Then I moved on to Ellie Goulding and Lady Gaga. I love music from various eras.
[QUOTE="DmadFearmonger"][QUOTE="YoshiYogurt"]No not at all. My mom was like dream theater (pull me under) sounds really "dated". I'm like "what?" I never understood how music can be too old. Music is musicYoshiYogurtThat song is dated. Not that it matters. It'll be 20 years old soon. And I'll be listening to it 'till the day I die. By then the song'll be played in am radio  I'm just getting into dream theater. I have Images and words, train of thought, and systematic chaos. Awake should be coming from amazon!! : )
Metropolis Part 2 is an epic, epic album.

I'd also recommend Octavarium, Scenes From a Memory and Six Degrees of inner Turbulence I don't know train of thought seemed a little meh except As I Am. Maybe it's due for another listen...
Hell no. Anyone who does probably needs to actually start listening to the music itself.
People who only stick to one timeframe or one genre are either A) pretty casual music listeners, or B) close-minded music listeners.

D) Really like that genre??
Not at all. A lot of the stuff I listen to tends to be from the 2000's, but I don't in any way avoid old music or new music (or any specific genre for that matter...)
