I got married last year..I made sure my wife was under control, because the moment she wanted to start acting psycho...I made it clear, it would be called off that instant. I never understood how the guy can let the woman act like a ten year old during the whole process

Not sure if I want a marriage ceremony. I'm atheist and I see it as a waste of money - lets just go to the court house and use the extra money for a house.

I seriously doubt the vast majority of them are actually like that. They just act like that for the TV show.

I'm sure there are a few that go batshit crazy, but most do not. My wife was pretty calm through most of it, and I was 2000 miles away and couldn't help much. There is large amount of stress to make it special for everyone, and that's why brides can freak out sometimes.

The higher the cost of the wedding, the more stress there is, I think. Our wedding cost a lot less the most weddings these days.

Just because you're getting married is no reason to be a royal b*tch. I understand wanting everything to be perfect if that's your thing, but there is no reason to be MEAN about it, to anyone. Frustrated, sure, but mean is never acceptable. I plan on getting the paper and having a potluck dinner in the back yard for only the people I can tolerate for maximum 4 hours at a time. I'm not spending money on a wedding because of Murphy's Law, and because I don't give that much of a crap.

I'm sure some of them have less than desirable personalities to begin with, but you are correct the camera can change people.

I would never condone acting like that, if it's such a 'big and important day' then why would they seemingly go through more trouble just to ruin it for everybody else.

That's exactly right. It is a frustrating thing at times, but we had a lot of fun doing it. It can be a great time if you take advantage of the process.

I'm sure there's  a producer on the sidelines encouraging them to play it up.

I dont condone anyone acting like a jerk.  However, I think men and women look at weddings quite differently.  I could care less about any big wedding.  I'd almost prefer going off to Vegas and getting married and saving all the extra expense.  Sure, a nice reception would be fun, but not the end of the world if I dont have it, either.  My girlfriend, however, has been looking forward to a big wedding her whole life.  To her, it's far more meanigful and thus stressful.

I feel bad for anyone who has to marry someone like that.  Granted, a good chunk of that is probably people just playing up to the cameras, but still.

I'll never understand the need of an overly extravagant wedding for some folks.  Spending tens--or in some cases, hundreds--of thousands of dollars on a ceremony which only lasts an afternoon is silly, considering that the costs of it could easily serve as a down payment on a decent home, if not the full purchase of one.

Bridezillas are ridiculous to put it very simply.  So much surrounding weddings is ridiculous.  In terms of "letting" them act that way, no one is the boss of anyone else, so that sounds like a bad word to me.  If a woman acts like a bridezilla that's who she is and all of that behavior can't come as a shock.  No one's forcing the groom to go through with it.  (And this can be vice versa because I've heard of groomzillas too.)

You missed the video of the bride who went and got her family to tear up the bridal shop due to the shop not wanting to give the girl the dress. Her brothers were arrested for assault. I wish I could find the video, but alas, I can't
