Blacula (1972) and Bones (2001) fancying my horror taste lately.
Do you enjoy Blaxploitation movies?
Well?
A lot of them from the 70's and 80's were quite good. A number of them starred Jim Kelly, Jim Brown, Fred Williamson, Pam Grier, etc.., Coffy, Three The Hard Way, Across 110th Street, Black Belt Jones, etc..., were always fun to watch. TBH, I always thought the term of the genre was insulting.
I think I like the parodies more.
Blazing Saddles and the criminally underappreciated Undercover Brother. Really AMAZING cast.
I've seen a few. I can see why they were appealing, especially compared to most modern Hollywood portrayal of black men. My dad and brother constantly complain about the portrayals of black men. "Emasculation of black men" they constantly say. Even calling it an agenda. Of course, they do like a few series from Western media:
That's from the top of my head. Most because they didn't have "worthless black men" as my dad says. I often talk with my sister that I don't know if there is an agenda to have insulting portrayals of black people, or if writers are so bad at appealing to us that people call it an agenda. For the sake of the writers, I hope it's an agenda because imagine being so bad at your job that people call it a conspiracy. It's like that time an athlete wore an outfit so trash that people called it an "illuminati humiliation ritual". 😂
