i dont think they give out points anymore/ if you do something wrong you'll get a less harsh mod for having reported people in the past... but ill report if somebody posts something really stupid, but i usually dont mind
Does Casey see if I report people? Sometimes I make strange topics for him to lock so he can write in my topic. :oops:

creepy much?? i think there is a big queue of reports and the mods just go in there and go through em as they come i, so any mod could pick any topic, but i could be completely wrong

I'm not a tattletale. I notice trolls instigate arguments and antagonize other members then when they piss someone off they report them. The troll starts it, the troll reports it and the victim is punished for it.
It's good that they stopped giving out points for reports. Points just gives the users more reason to abuse and manipulate the system.
I have not once reported someone for something. I can rest assured that if something is report-worthy in my eyes, someone else will have already reported it. I often hear people complaining about the mods acting like Nazis here, and yet ironically, I think certain forumites here bring it upon themselves with their overzealous reporting. I get the distinct sense that mods do not carefully examine most of these reports and simply accept the report and carry out the moderation - which is why I have seen certain moderators question some of the moderation decisions that are made when they go back and examine the records more closely.

Yes, I've seen this happen on numerous occasions. And what is even more strange is that oftentimes the trolls are often not moderated, suggesting that no one reported them, but that they felt it necessary to report those who respond to them. But then, this is predictable given the typical mentality (and immaturity) of a troll.
i get reported on so much! and for ridiculous reasons! i got suspended for 7 days because someone reported on me, although i definetly wouldve gotten modded anyway, but ive seen a couple times in my mod history where people have ratted me out for completely harmless posts

They used to give points for reporting but they haven't done that for some time. Probably because after the aggravation of the users reporting other users for frivolous reasons administration realized it was a stupid idea to begin with. They were just asking for a headache.
Never reported anyone, don't see a real need to, didn't like that guys message? Oh well, ill just move on, not hunt his family down and kill him...or report him. Same with in school, if someone does a minor thing that all the teachers are asking about or other people, i dont say anything (However im not saying if the police asked me "Who shot that man" i wouldnt say anything)
