Hey yall im 19 and for almost a year i had this emptiness inside of me, like i am not doing something right in life. I always wanted to trry out wrestling, and you know what? I did it. I have been going for 2 months strong, and havent been feeling empty ever since, i feel good. I know its a bit late for competitions, but who knows, if i improve enough, i just may try to compete with other wrestling clubs :)

what about you guys? do you have any emptiness? and if you did, how did you fix it :)

p.s, this is a great thread to vent your feelings, you will receive some support from me and others.

Quite a bit. 20 here, and never had a girlfriend, not much of a social life at all besides a few "okay" friends, and feel like nothing I will ever do will lead to success in the long run; I am on the road to having a college degree, but don't really feel very skilled at anything. I always feel inferior to other people...in some way I feel they are better than me, and have always been very socially awkward.

Only when i think about it, pretty much all the time lol. Each year being stagnant while friends and family keep moving on to bigger and better things. Feeling like you cant even get a shot at almost anything good. Yeah it feels pretty empty and personally i've felt pretty down about it, but i'm not super depressed and i know i'm lucky to have a few good friends and close family that many people wish they could have. I just have to have hope that by hanging in there, things will eventually get better.

do something you love, excel in it, own it. in no time, people will try to become your friend, and you will no longer think of yourself as socially awkward. you will be happy in life. note that even though people will try to befriend you, your new-found happiness and confidence will"weed out" the fake ones.

things wont always get better if you hang in there, you must do something about it. and when you do, you will see a great change in your perspective about life. take risks, you only live once... serioiusly. you dont want to be 50 and still be this way. need a friend or anymore support, im here.

definately will, thats how the world works. "money comes, so do the friends" just remember not to socialize with the ones who pursue you for the money.

I have a huge energy inside me which just drives me to work hard, I feel trapped every time I realize that I'm wasting my life doing nothing of significance and when I compare myself with others who are vastly successful. I believe that every person should have something unique about him to give him that feeling of importance, whether it be big muscles, good grades, or be exceptionally good at a certain sport. No one wants to live just being 'average'.

. It's quite the opposite, not working hard makes me feel like a loser. It's a successful way of venting energy and it has been very rewarding so far. If you ever find yourself harboring feelings of inferiority, it's the best way to deal with it.

Pretty much this. I still feel empty though. I feel better when I work, even so.

I'm 24 and got out of the military about a year ago, and ever since I got out I've just felt lost, like I don't know what to do. I'm going to school now, but nothing interests me. I'm just finding it harder to wake up everyday.

All the time, it's mostly just because of money. I've been doing some odd jobs here and there, and even started volunteering at a place to keep myself a little busy. Finding a stable job in a small farm town in the middle of nowhere Tennessee is hard.

Problem is its a temporary fix that can be addictive and lead to other problems. (Seems I have a way of finding lost souls of that nature) Better fix would be to get active in social hobbies and surround yourself with good people and habits. Sex is nice, but not necessarily if its meaningless, using someone, or selling yourself short.

I don't have any voids in my life.  What I do have are fears.  Fear that I won't reach goals I've set for myself.  Fear that where I'm at in life is my max.  Fears that my health will fail before I'm old.  Perhaps I'm delusional of where and how I see myself in the future versus what is actually possible and realistic.  I don't know... but I have this feeling that I should and will at some point be more successful than I am now.  To be fair that feeling is responsible for where I'm at now but I feel like it's not enough although for many it would be.

I guess what I really feel right now is stagnation.

Who doesn't. None of us really know that what we are doing in life is right, everyone just pretends, and ones perception becomes one reality, until we can transcend our mundane plane of existence I believe we will all feel empty until we are ready for what we are capable of!

If you haven't I would start exercising.  Hardcore exercising.  If you get serious and committed enough it will change your life dramatically.  It did for me.  But it only works if you do it like you mean it.

I need to start exercising again, it would help a lot. It's amazing how just working out or shedding a few pounds can make you feel so much better about everything.

Set goals, and accomplish them. They can even be incredibly meaningless.

I find humans have an emotional need to accomplish goals and improve. If you are just going to work coming home from work everyday and doing the same things over and over with no change, it gets depressing.

Its why things like exercise work so well, as it offers noticeable long term improvement. But i mean you can just clean your room, paint your room, fix something thats broken really anything that offers a sense of accomplishment and that things are better now, however slightly, than they were before.

As mentioned though exercise fits the bill really well for most people, as there is virtually no limit to improvement and always something to strive for.

I am almost 20 and yes, I also feel like that. I have friends, a girlfriend, I go to college, I love doing a bunch of things and yet I find life to be dull and boring. I can't grow up to work on a company until i'm freaking 80 and sit up on my couch judging people. I just feel like I should be doing more with my life, but oh well...
