Basically, the Internet is a repository for information sanctioned by "higher learning" authorities and other legal "government" authorities, and all other non-sanctioned info you need to know. It has it all.
It also helps if you use DNS servers that are not sanctioned by US government. I will leave this investigation up to you...
Since this school year is over ( or almost), do you feel like you learned more from your this past year of school or the internet? I feel like I learned more just from the internet and I feel like I've learned jack-crap from school, but if i really think about I probably wouldn't know as much as I know from the internet if it wasnt for school. In otherwords I guess the internet just built on what I already learned.akamaru64

In this country high school is like sitting in a chair for 5 years then go to college, teh internetz of course,
Well internet pwns school but you would need at least basic schooling to use the computer to learn in the first place so I dunno
It would definitely be school. You can't really learn much from the Internet, unless your extremely motivated to do so. It's easier to learn in school, especially when teachers are really passionate about what they are teaching. I only had a few of those in high school, but every professor I've had so far literally lights up and is as excited as heck when they talk about their subject, and that kind of rubs off onto me. I love it. I also love learning..I want to stay in school for the rest of my life :) Too bad that's not really an option, but whenever I get my loans paid off I would either like to try for a masters degree, or get another bachelor's in another subject, just for the heck of it.

I learn everything I need to know from Wikipedia. I've used it for every project assigned to me from every class.horny_kerrigan
ROFL I wouldnt trust everything from Wikipedia if you want proof Ill change an article for you... The Pope is now an Indian..
It really depends on the subject matter at hand. If you are talking about video games... The Internet, of course! Math? School, of course! But I have probably learned a heck of a lot more facts on the Internet, but they will not benefit in my life at all. Like, I learned that Chimchar is a fire Pokemon. Yeah, it's true, but it won't help me in life. But then again, it's not like eighth grade has anything that will help me out that much in the future.
I have learned a lot from the Internet, though. I don't really know what to say, but I hate school, so I feel ignorant enough to say the Internet. At least I finally graduated Grade School. Yay! Only eight more years. ^_^

Lmao! I did alot of my projects using wiki... acutally, I have done all of them... Spanish: project on frida kahlo: check English: soffmore research project (counts 20% ish): Check And it goes on...I'd learn more in school if it weren't so boring. Science involves sitting down for 50 minutes listening to the teacher drone on and on without doing anything to reinforce what she told us. Maths is fine because we work out of a textbook and the teacher explains things. Every other class is fine, but I have to say I learn a lot from the internet. My way of learning is interactivity, which everyone I know agrees should be used in all schools. Sitting down reading from a book for half a day is not helpful.
Although I probably prefer the internet because we have laptops at my school.
No. Anyone who says yes is not trying very hard in school. The internet is a great supplemental resource for education (if you know where to look for reputable information), but most of what you will remember and use later in life is learned through completing assignments and projects, not simply reading. If you don't apply knowledge, it is of no use to you at all, save perhaps for mental stimulation, which you acquire in any form of learning. It would be like me saying I could learn to play piano just by reading about it on the internet or following one of those stupid 'learn to play online' scams that people fall for en masse.pianist

I disagree, I pwn at history, I had a 105 average sophmore year of HS thanks to the internet.
I could spend hours on wikipedia going from article to article soaking up knowledge.
I pwn my science teacher by asking question he doesn't know the answer and correcting numerical error on test...such as age of the universe.....he said 15 billion.....NASA's Wilkonson Microwave Anisotropy Probe said 13.7+- .2 billion.'
This is all thank to the internet.Â

Uh huh... and what good will that knowledge do you if you can't write about it or use it? You had a 105 average presumably because you worked hard on your assignments, not because you researched using the internet. Had you researched with 'traditional' methods the result would be the same. "Pwning" a teacher doesn't mean you learned anything of value. It means you were able to research a piece of trivia.
There's a big difference between acquiring knowledge and developing a skill. In the end, the latter is much more important.
