When it comes to teen mothers do you feel sympathy for them? or do you feel like its their own fault?

I do feel sorry for them in a way, because its real tough raising a kid, I'm not even a parent and I already know how tough it is. Part of me thinks they are responsible for their own actions and should think more carefully about that sort of thing

It's their fault. Use contraceptives or better yet, close your legs if you cannot handle the consequences.

I may feel a little sorry for them in one respect but they have to take responsibility for their actions. (Same goes for the father)

Yes it is their own faults... Unless they go to religious schools...

I say this because:

1) In public schools, abstinence is hammered at you all the time... Not to mention being required to take health courses in high school (sometimes even earlier)...

2) Different in religious schools where they spout their religious gospel brainwashing and just tell you sex is evil, but contraception and abortions are "eviler"...

Yes I am friends with a teen mom and the father(he's my hermano!) Anyways yes I feel bad, and I thought they were smart enough to wear a condom(the guy at least). But at the sametime it's good because the girl is so mature now, which I think is better for her because she used to be very immature.

Yes and no. There are a lot of teenage mothers who used protection, birth control, whatever, they took the precautions and **** happened. I feel bad for those girls. The ones I don't feel bad for are: -Girls who sleep around without protection, aren't and never have been in a relationship with their baby's father and/or don't know who the father is. -Girls who are not mature enough to raise a child but keep it anyway. If you're not going to take care of the kid and would rather spend all your time partying and drunk, give it away or abort it. You lost your rights to teenagedom the day you decided to keep that baby and raise it. -Girls who have babies as some sort of trend, or to try and trap their boyfriend into staying with them. Basically, if you're an idiot, I don't feel bad for you. If it was truly an accident and you tried to not get pregnant, the I do feel bad, but only if you handle the situation like an intelligent, logical person.

It all really depends on the circumstances. I understand accidents do happen and some teenager girls cope better than others when it comes to being pregnant. Some girls I just look at and can see they won't be a good parent. Others, I see great potential. I know several teenage mothers/pregnant teengers and it's pretty easy to distinguish the better mums from the worse mums.

Why would I? I didnt force it upon them. If they are able to enjoy sex, they can enjoy the consequences. People like you are the reason they get a huge payout for coughing out a kid here in australia($5000AU), while hard working people pay for it with their tax money.

No, they were warned. They were told what could happen if they don't wait until a more appropriate time. So since they wouldn't take the advice... AHAHAHA!

Every new mother in Australia gets money for having a baby. And I'm pretty sure they brought in a rule that mothers under 18 get their money is smaller amounts so they don't go and bust it on things not for the baby.

I dont understand why anyone would feel bad for the mother unless they were raped. If your having sex then you accept this could happen no matter how much protection you use.

I do. Having to pay for one small and stupid mistake made in a moment of passion by giving up your future is far too extreme a punishment.

It depends (as it often does). Some have such dreadful home lives that, in their somewhat messed up minds, having a child will somehow 'correct' the problem or give them the love/affection they don't get. That is quite tragic that people can get to that state.

Those that go in eyes open, those that perhaps believe they are more mature than they are and that it "won't happen to them" don't deserve much sympathy. They've taken a big risk they should have taken precautions against.

Too many people put too much focus on the one aspect of life, I guess. Though it's not really surprising, with all the emphasis there is on sex in movies, tv, music, even video games. It'd be similar sympathy for someone killing another person due to driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol - even texting anymore - the cause is clear and the consequences are brushed off but once a certain point is passed, the responsibility lies solely on the one who made the decision. Sex creates children - not in every instance but that's how it happens. How can girls not expect pregnancy if they're out having sex? Restraining yourself / self-control can make a big difference in the world.
