In general I don't have any difficulty understanding British Accents, but over Xbox Live it can get difficult because of the crappy sound and mic. Sometimes you get chopped up sentences and that's alittle hard to understand. If I speak to a Brittish boy or girl in person or if the sound over Live is good, then I haven't had any problems so far.
By the way, check this video out. It's a tour of the Brittish accents. The guy is actually prettty good. :)
That's probably it, because when I've only spoken face to face with people from London/Cambridge. As for the TC question. Yes, I have the same problem with understanding some british speakers/accents. I'm not sure if its the speed or the shortened syllables or whatever
I find British accents to be very, very hot. There's that one type I can't stand though. I believe it's called a Cockney accent. Makes my ears bleed. Bruin4ev3r1520Yes, this is my answer. I will usually tell them to keep talking. :P

Why was that :| worthy? Some people from further south in the US have incredibly thick accents. Anyway, I do have trouble understanding some British accents sometimes, despite the fact that I live in Britain.[QUOTE="majwill24"][QUOTE="the_kidisblack"]Do you find American accents hard to understand? I was reading through the responses and his comment just stuck out like a sore thumb.
Generally, I can understand British accents, even the Glaswegian accent. However, what do GameSpot users think about Northern Irish accents? I have one, as I am from Northern Ireland, and I have heard Northern Irish accents can be hard to understand.michaelP4
I was on a plane to Australia with a chap from Belfast a few years ago. Admittedley he was smashed and I'd had a few beers and a couple of valium, however to me he's may as well have been speaking backwards. In fact he probably was...

Same, and I'm a British person. There's lots of accents that I don't understand, and there's a few British ones in there.

Its funny, because i cant even watch the first 10 minutes of Uk office because because i have to keep going back to get what he says, its absolutley ridiculous to me, i want to like the show, but i just cant, plus i seen some highlights on youtube, and eh, nothing special, the american office is brilliant as hell though,
This comes from an american whos lived in china all his life though so...
Even I find some British accents a bit difficult to truly understand. But most of them are fine.Bourbons3Yep. Sometimes when I meet someone from up North I have to take a moment to think, 'what?'
well, I live in the east of Scotland, and I cant understand half of what people are saying up the western highlands, :D
One of my friend's parents British accent I thought was an ancient Mayan language. Oh, and she used "rubbish" alot. :V
Hey im British and I struggle to understand some accents. In particular, i really struggle with the really scouse Liverpool accent. And also, eventhough I am from the south west of the country, I also sometimes struggle to understand the west country accent too :P
Of course, this won't apply to British themselves I think, but rather more to people who are from outside the UK. Over XBL and stuff, I have friends from Hull and Newcastle, and I find their accents almost impossible to catch what they're saying. It does apply to british people as well . Some accents are like a foreign language in the uk
It's a little awkward cause I can't reply them immediately since I'm still trying to decipher what they just said. Anyone find British accents(besides the Cambridge/London accents) difficult to understand? th3warr1or
hey...rubbish is actually a word....technically 'garbage' isnt, we invented the language ;) also...does it really annoy anyone else (brits) when the americans put their flag on a game under language selection...and when they say 'speak american' drives me loopy!!! grrrrOne of my friend's parents British accent I thought was an ancient Mayan language. Oh, and she used "rubbish" alot. :V

yeah kind of. at my old job, a kid started working there who had a 'normal' British accent and whenever he'd say something i always was like 'what???' and he'd have to repeat it a few times.
I stay in North-east Scotland but I lived in Florida for a brief period of my life, so I have a slightly toned down Scottish accent. I can understand people from all over the UK for the most part but people from the shetland islands (where scotland meets scandinavia, sort of accent)..I truly have NO idea what they are saying.
