I went to my friend's place the other time and it he let me watch kevin hart's "laugh at my pain". So I psyched myself up to have a cracking time but as the time went by I realised that the only person that was genuinely laughing was my friend. I tried, lord knows i tried, to find the guy's jokes funny but it just didn't happen, i just didn't find him funny enough to even crack a smile. So is it just me or is kevin hart really not that funny?

I find some of his stuff funny, not all of it. But that goes with just about any comic. Obviously he has his audience of support or else he would not be where he's at today...

He's made me laugh a couple times. But I find that comedians who try to appeal to only one race (lets be honest, 90% of his jokes are meant for african americans) arent too skilled.

the reason he is funny and succesful, is becuz he doesnt particularly play as a black or plays for blacks. Yeah, his audience is mostly black, but if you actually listen to his jokes, he never really makes them about race. Black comedians usually just make racist jokes (becuz they are black they can get away with it) about other races or about themselves. Which has gotten old and stale for years. Kevin Heart doesnt do that, he's actually pretty creative and you never know where his stories go and intertwine.

Kevin Heart is kind of a lightweight comedian (tho he is reasonably funny), but I don't think his humor is overly aimed at one race.

Some racial humor is pretty genius tho. David Chapelle's stand up is legendary and it was mostly racial.

yes, back then........ now if you have him still doing that till this day, along with 30 other comedians riding the same racial horse, its gets annoying and it becomes something you dont want to hear even if everybody thinks its the funniest thing ever.

I guess I can understand that, but I think Chapelle's racial humor worked better because he had a smarter, more creative way of delivering it.

No, and he always ruins the celebrity game during NBA All-Star Weekend. All he does during his stand-up is make noises and run around. Sort of like Dane Cook.

I remember seeing Kevin Hart's first stuff on Comedy Central Presents years ago, and I found him to be hilarious back then. I haven't really tuned into his new stuff.

really? i guess ill check him out then. honestly i never even bothered cuz i thought he was just another one of those black comedians that keep talking about blackness like chris rock. ill have to check him out then though. although i find Louis C.K. to be pretty damn funny. his stuff is so vulgar and stupid but the simpleness of it is much of the brilliance.

I think his earlier stuff is much better. But he's a very well-rounded comedian, and can be hilarious at times. I think he's done a good job of appealing to multiple races.
