I wouldn't find it offensive if someone thought I was gay(don't know why anyone would do that, but still someone might do). However if it was used to insult me, I would find it offensive.

A) it means happy, and i am happy.

B) If it was meant to mean "has sex with men" then i don't care, because i don't hence its not offensive

C) Its not offensive to be called gay Steven Fry is gay and he's richer and smarter than anyone who uses it as an insult and that's a bloody fact.
