For the most part I get along with them. I live in a row and the elderly woman to the right is very nice and quiet. The guy to the left is the "world's worst dad" and his kids are demons. Luckily, him and his woman are split, so I only have to endure the imps for a few days out of the week. Most of the others on this block are quiet except for the two Hispanic families across the street.

So, how well do you get along with your neighbors?

We stay out of each others' businesses but I have had a few noise complaints called on me from drums and jamming out. I'm pretty sure I don't fit into their usual tenant stereotype.

They are used to middle-age run of the mill people that go to bed at 10 and read the newspaper and have house warming parties. Sit at the dinner table and watch sitcoms together kind of people.

I'm 26 and wear band shirts everyday, have friends over all the time and I like to get loud. Plus i smoke a lot of weed.

I'm probably Satan in their eyes. Long story short; my neighbors suck.

Hate my downstairs neighbor...doesn't work, has no friends, never goes out, not even for bloody groceries, so whenever me or my wife decide to practice the concert harp she always complains. We try to do it while everybody else is at work, but she's ALWAYS home! We practice in the morning, she complains she's trying to sleep; we play in the afternoon, she complains she's trying to sleep. I wonder if she's always sleeping or if she's just a bitch...

I don't talk to my neighbors, unless we need to talk to some odd reason. I mind my own business, and i expect the same. Privacy is key.

@korvus: I would go with the latter. Try to work out a schedule with her maybe? She probably hasn't been laid in awhile because the harp is a beautiful instrument which I've never really hard anyone complain about.

Since you're married now, try to get a brother or cousin or friend to give her some action and take one for the team lol.

@bowchicka07: We tried. We had 5 meeting with her and the building manager, they send psychologists to her house, we established schedules but after a week she calls the management again saying she changed her mind. Then she started complaining about everything (once she even complained that sometimes we go to the toilet during the night and she could hear the toilet flush so we should be forbidden to use the toilet after 10pm >_>)

When we first moved in, we had block parties a couple times a year, but now everyone keeps to themselves since the city finished the road and the traffic increased.

@bowchicka07: Sounds like a plan. When are you arriving? She should be on the upper floor, just grab a wall, find the stairs and go up (you won't be able to see through the cigarette smoke). Also, she's about 75, is one of the ugliest women I ever had the displeasure of seeing and sounds like my father would if he spent his life drunk. Enjoy! =D

@korvus: oH gOD! She sounds like a catch man but I already got me a little something something going on. Looks like you're only option now is to kill her and No! I won't do that for you either.

You could play the harp at her funeral for some sweet sweet irony.

No problems here. We moved in a year ago. A lot of my neighbors are older. One old lady on corner knows everything about everyone. We wave and say hi. My neighborhood is pretty quiet.

not this time. Good thing I'm moving out soon or I might have straight up murdered my upstairs neighbor for stomping around basically every moment of every day. He never stops walking.... From the bedroom to the living room, back to the bedroom, then back to the living room.... over and over. At 4am, at 10am, in the afternoon, still walking in the evening. I have no idea what he does or why he never sleeps. I hate him.

About 6 months ago, I used to shout at me back neighbor because they had a parrot in a cage and they would leave it in front of my window. It used to make sounds like no other, a freaking dinosaur that bird was. We moved out and surprisingly my new back neighbor brought a parrot about 2 months ago. They put the cage in front of my window and I am having the same story again. Unbelievable. Every time I talk to them, they change the cage place, but then they would leave the cage in front of my window. Talked to them last time and I didn't hear the stupid bird for a week. Hopefully, I don't hear it for the rest of my life.

I've been in my house nearly a year and I've barely spoken to most of my neighbors. I've not shared a word with one of my next door neighbors. The neighbor on the other side of me I don't see often, but we'll exchange words. Two of my neighbors behind me a good guys and we get together and share the occasional drink.

The next door neighbor I haven't spoken with bothers me a little bit. He doesn't keep up on his yard (he's a musician and works in strange hours). I don't think he even owns a lawn mower. Normally I wouldn't care, but he lets his back yard grow out of control with weeds, which eventually go to seed and spread to my yard. I had my home built, so I've been fighting to get a good back yard of grass growing.

Fortunately we don't have any young kids on our block and everyone around us is nice and quiet.

Only one I have a problem with, the rest is fine. Well more like he has a problem with me. Jealous our house has an extension and keeps his eyes on all the car spaces. If we have a visitor and we run out of spaces he will sneak up at night and put a slow puncture on their car tyres. I counter this by throwing a fucking brick into his greenhouse.

To be honest I only presume it's him, so he may not deserve it, but I don't care, I also hate the way he looks in that plaid pink and white shirt.

Is your neighbor an old hag or something? And frankly I'm kind of bewildered by the fact that she is allowed all this leniency and softness. I mean I read things about a schedule, toilet after 10PM and a psychologist. I gotta say this just seeps of first world problems lol

@fgjnfgh: They can, actually =) I've seen them do it more than once. One actually bent the bars far enough to be able to escape and the other one managed to break the lock. But anyway, it was just a joke, implying that you'd cause the "accident" and then wouldn't have to worry about the parrot anymore =P

@GazaAli: Yeah, it pisses me off too. "She's old and all alone" seems to be the excuse every time we get a call from the renting company saying she changed her mind about the schedule. Since when is being old an excuse to complain about all her neighbors? Maybe if she wasn't such a bitch she wouldn't be all alone. Hell, I would even visit every now and then but the only time I was there she was complaining that her "next door neighbor has a retarded kid who makes a lot of noise"...screw that; I can't stand people like that.

@korvus:

I feel your pain of living above people. I've lived on a third floor apartment and my neighbor downstairs was a real douche. He was probably in his 20's, had no friends and used to watch war movies. Had a thing for slamming doors too which would shake the whole building.

I hated apartment living. The worst was lugging groceries up and down three flights of steps every week. Ugh. Don't miss those days.

We're planning on moving to a house; this is still the apartment my wife lived in when she was single and we ended up staying when I moved to the Netherlands until I got my job situation under control =)

@korvus: thanks for the joke. you know i wouldn't be comfortable if my neighbor play an instrument, but i wouldnt mind setting up a schedule. and no toilet after 10pm is dumb. dont you wake up in the early morning for toilet like 3 am? I want you to understand that they are people who really hate sound, but kinda makes no sense to me since we live in a world where noise is part of us now

We live in the rural area. We have farm fields all around. The nearest house is probably 500 feet away down the street. Actually, that's their mailbox. Their actual house is still a long walk inside their property.

I get along fine with my neighbors. Even the Amish have finally quit staring after what, 6 years? He He.

Yes, I live in a row home just outside the city. It's a one-way street and sound carries pretty well outside and through the walls. My next home will DEFINITELY be a single home, no question about it. This is a great starter home, but not for long term living.

Not really. One set of neighbors has moved in and out so many times I don't keep track of who's living there anymore. The other set is an old lady who can easily be mistaken for a man and her old husband.

They've lived there for at least 15 years. For reference, we live about a half-km from an elementary school, 2 parks etc etc. The neighborhood is full of families with kids. It's impossible not to notice that when moving here.

They have:
-Yelled "shut the f*** up" at my sister and I while we were playing in the pool, splashing and making noise during the day when we were kids. More than once.

-Screamed at us for accidentally knocking a ball or badminton birdie or what have you into their yard.

-Recently, we had a garage sale on community garage sale day, which is the same weekend EVERY year. A woman parked her van in front of our house to come to our garage sale, and just the nose end of it was 'over' any part of the neighbor's driveway. Not in any way that stops them from using it, mind you. They have a semicircle driveway and she could have easily driven in the other side and still parked her vehicle exactly as she would have if she'd backed in to the side closest to our house, which she ended up doing. But instead of just doing that calmly, she honked obnoxiously at the woman in the van and flipped her off like the bitch she is.

I seriously can't wait for these people to die. They're nasty assholes and I won't feel at all bad.

@fgjnfgh: I lived in rural areas I hated it. Not close to anything coyotes attacking dogs. We had no trees on a hill surrounded by corn fields the wind was horrible. 500 foot driveway that seemed to get more snow on it that the yard did. Once u made it to the street it was almost never plowed. I will stick with suburbs lol

Not to mention no real high speed internet!!

Yeah sure, but that would be mainly because I keep to myself and don't socialize with them. Most around me are junkies and I only smoke weed, rarely drink, and don't smoke cigs. So I actually want nothing to do with my neighbors and only kick it with a few people due to them living a similar lifestyle to mine and they don't live on my block. Heroin has become an epidemic here in Ohio. So bad in fact, they are trying to declare Ohio in a state of emergency over it because it has gotten that bad here. Members of both mine and my girl's family are hooked on that shit. We don't have anything to do with our family members that are on it either. I wish I lived out in the country away from all the morons.

Just tell them to **** off and go break a hip or something.

I live in a good neighborhood except for that one woman coming from the second neighborhood that dead ends behind ours (Still part of the same estates). She swerved her car in my direction and made finger gun gestures at me while I was out for a walk a few months ago.

There are no issues between us and everyone coexists, but I could probably count on one hand the times I've spoken to any of my neighbors.
