yeah, you can get in trouble.
i think in the worst case you can get charged with truancy. but you gotta skip a lot for that to happen
I dunno man, I'm not to sure about how truancy rules work at your school. Plus they might call the house or something to see whats up. Thats how they used to do it at my HS
Well it depends, but since it's apparent that you don't care about your education: I would say no.

I get decent grades. I just don't feel like going on block days because the electives seem pointless. I.e a hour and half of team sports or painting
Probably not I missed over 40 days of school per year since 8th grade until I finished high school. I never got into trouble and I never even brought a note excusing my absences.
Also, trudency is only a fine but if you can't pay you usually get like 10 hours of community service.

If you're getting by, then you're not f ucked. Skipping a couple of days won't be overly impactful, especially if you're attending a public school.
The worst the school can do is call your parents, if miss a couple of more days. And I think you can get suspended, which seems like a totally useless punishment given the circumstances, if you miss a lot.

In California.
to OT's post... turn it around man. I never skipped that much in Jr.H. but in grade 10 I did ALOT and almost flunked a bunch of classes to get kicked out. I had to spend my grade 10 & 11 catching up in summer school which sucked. No one wants to do school in summer when your friends are chilling. Just make your way to class and get it over with. The harder you work the easier your grade 12 yr will be. With me making up for my dumbass I was able to only have to take 4 classes all year for my grade 12 which allowed me to challenge some Uni courses.
My theory... work hard early so you can slack later later with a fat wallet... worked for me.
How would anyone here know your school's attendance policies? I highly doubt your school would be okay with excessive absences, so yes, essentially you can get in "trouble".
if you have important tests or assignments due that day, yeah.
I skipped a couple times, but I cut more - since I enjoyed the majority of my classes.

Good advice man. Thanks
I wouldn't know, every supervisor that I see when I'm out of class or summoned they don't usually say anything in fact when they do they think I'm just another supervisor or something heck I even been mistaken as a substitute teacher about a month ago... -.- I'm glad I'm in my last year of high school.
heh you get it easy.
at the schools i went to, if you didnt go to school, or have your parent call you in sick, the school would actually get a hold of the parent to find out whats up.
yea, made it impossible to skip school. instead i had to fake an illness when i didnt feel like going to school.
I skipped 40 days and had around 60 tardies. I was given all day suspension in a boring room. I had to sign a contract, although I continued to miss school, they started to ignore my absenses.
It was bad and it looked bad. I did get in trouble for it and was said that I would get kicked out of school for it. This was in Junior year, and then I decided to do home schooling.
Your parents could be sent to court for this, so don't think it's no big deal.
If you don't go, you have to call the school and let them know why you're not going, or else it counts as an unexplained absence, and you have to go down to the attendance office the next day and get it resolved. Too many unexplained absences in a row, and the school will call home.
I don't think we have a policy regarding the amount of absences though. Take as much time off of school as you want; as long as you keep up your grades, it doesn't matter.
If you are doing well in school then I wouldn't worry about it. If however you're already failing and skipping then yes you're f--ked.
When I was in highschool once you turned 18 you could sign yourself out. I had a douchebag teacher whose class I wanted to drop but the guidance counsellors wouldn't let me. So I signed out every day for that class. The teacher saw me in the hallway and asked what I was doing. I said going to class. She asked where I was, I replied at school. She asked why I wasn't in her class. I said that wasn't her business.
The next day I came to school with a slip saying that I had to visit the principle for skipping class. I went to the principle he asks me why I skipped class. I pointed out that I signed out using the 18 year old privelege. He asked why I was signing out all the time. I explained the situation and told him I planned on signing out every day and didn't care if I got zero I didn't like the teacher that much. So he took me to guidance offices, got the paper to drop the course and walked with me to the dbag teacher and gave her the slip. I smiled and said CYA.
She was such a dbag she'd constantly try to get me in trouble after that for anything. She'd even bother my younger sister when she went to highschool.
Not sure what your school will do. But as far as being F-ed, I'd say that if you plan on being a valued employee and being successful one day, skirting your responsibilities is probably not a good precedent to set. (Yeah, a lot of people, myself included were less than perfect students and turned it around later on, but I think you know what I'm getting at).
