Sleep paralysis is when you wake up, but cant move for a short period of time. People sometimes get hallucinations when this happens and it can happen to anybody. Has this ever happened to you? Do you get it often?

I think we just got trapped in a web of lies.I THINK it has happened to me. That is, it has happened, but since I never spoke to a doctor about it, I can't say that it technically, clinically was sleep paralysis.

if i try really hard, i can usually move my fingers and toes, and that sometimes "wakes up" my arms and legs so i can roll around which snaps me out of itTC's got some 'splainin to do.konvikt_17
http://www.wikihow.com/Cope-with-Sleep-Paralysis #7: "Focus on body movement. During sleep paralysis you may find that you are able to move a part of your body.(Many times your feet or your fingers)Just keep moving this body part as fast as you can and you will find yourself awake in no time." you can sometimes only move your fingers, so i usually move my fingers, than my wrist, than bend my arm, and when im able to do that i move it across my body (when im sleeping on my back) in such a way that i move onto my side and it wakes me up
Only once, as a really sick child.
I didn't even know it was called sleep paralysis if this fourm didn't tell me so.

I think we just got trapped in a web of lies. Spiderman is real? You're body naturally has a period of paralyis during sleep. Otherwise you'd be thrashing about, acting out dreams. There is actually a disorder where people do just that.
I think I've experienced this. It's a state where you're asleep but somewhat conscious. It's happened to me when I slept far too long and I'll wake up in an anxious fit. It was not pleasant.
Yeah, people with REM sleep disorder are actually valuable observation subjects when studying about dreams since they act them out. Scientists are also able to disable the part of the brain that causes this paralysis in animals, and because of that we are able to get an idea as to what they are dreaming too. You're body naturally has a period of paralyis during sleep. I used to get it really frequently, not so much anymore.
Usually when I fell asleep somewhere that is not my bed.
It really sucks though, u feel really helpless, but u can't wake urself up. Sometimes I could wiggle a bit, or move my foot, and I would try to make myself fall so that I would wake up.
Not really. At least in the sense that most people experience it (waking up into it)...
I can...however...induce it 'artificially'.
Mhmm.
One time I felt like I was being electrocuted, another time I saw loads of roaches crawling up my wall, the last time I seriously had it I saw a ghost woman come over me. It's all related to stress in my life I would assume, since every time it happened I was going through something incredibly stressful.
you dont wake up, you are still sleeping, its just your mind that wakes up, and what you see is just a mental image, you are not actually with your eyes open and you are not seeing a real time image of the room you are inSleep paralysis is when you wake up, but cant move for a short period of time. you can have the illusion that you are rolling, but you are actually doing nothing in real life. and if you are having sleep paralysis and someone see you, they wont do anything, because you look exactly as if you were sleeping. Please Log In to post.
