... for friends?

When I was creating a mix CD of Dream Theater songs for a friend, I included a booklet with album artwork and some general notes.

I also opened up the CD with the Psycho Theme, like DT does for live concerts.

So do you go to great lengths when burning CDs for friends?

Not really. They'll be lucky if I even write the title of the album on the CD.

Nah, I rarely do anything special. Sometimes I'll include a track list, but only if I'm feeling extra generous.

I don't burn a lot of CDs, but when I burnt an Opeth CD and a Mix CD for my last girlfriend I tried really hard to relate each song lyrically to our relationship going in chronological order (and wrote them in the notes for each track). Seems a bit overkill in retrospection.

We're bad friends.
Judging from the trailer, it looks to be the best. The people that have seen the premiere (it leaked) have said it's great, and that it ends with a huge cliffhanger..
I try to, but more often than not, the "extras" go unappreciated. I know why you bother, but "they" usually don't...

Yeah, I have a spindle of Lightscribe CDs mainly for this. I'll usually spend a few minutes making a label with SureThing, then I'll etch it in to the disc (the laser etching takes a while, actually.)

Thankfully, my friends don't really have a good taste in music, so I don't have to burn them anything.

well since everyone has flash/mp3 players there really isn't really a need for CDS anymore (at least in my experience)

A physical copy of the media is always useful to have, but impractical to store. If digital media data is erased or damaged, it's gone or completely corrupt. What CDs are good for are having a physical back up whilst having a lossless copy on a large amount of storage for a harddrive or digital back up.
