I have a Dog but he died

I've had several dogs and a couple cats. For the past couple homes I've lived in we haven't been allowed dogs :(
We actually had to get rid of our cat (although my great aunt keeps her now) when we moved into the townhouse I live in currently. That's the last pet I've had.
not anymore ;( my dog died 2 weeks ago.
...the irony is that she died of cancer...which I have a family history of...
I'm very sorry for your loss, TC. They (pets) really do become part of the family.
I've had dogs and cats for the past (almost) 15 years and in 2010 we had our first losses. First our cat (whom was 'daddy's little girl') passed away after a fight with cancer then later in the year one of our dogs died (of old age really). It's a very difficult thing to deal with and a lot of people don't necessarily understand your/our loss.
Hang in there.

I feel your pain I lost my dog recently. He was old too bad he passed away while I am deployed right now. I really miss him. :-(
I have 2 cats and a dog. Dog stays outside at all times, and my 2 cats live inside but are virtually never seen unless they're hungry. :Praven_squad
That's why I dislike cats, they are too private. You should put them outside and bring the dog in. Nothing better than walking into your home and having a happy dog to greet you.

With all due respect, you clearly haven't owned cats. They generally aren't private at all, and every cat I've had has come running to me when I get home.Sorry for your loss TC. My family's 13 year old Jack Russel was put down in 2009 and I still miss her. I have two cats, one's a slinky lazy-bones who sleeps on the bed all day and enjoys being petted but not cuddled, and the other's a wild beast and a absolute murderer to boot - birds, mice, he even brought a live rat into the house once. Every morning I usually find some sort of small carcass has been delivered during the night. Sometimes several.I have a Dog but he died

I've owned over 10 cats while growing up sooooo CLEARLY you don't know what you are talking about. Are you saying cats are more affectionate than dogs? As defensive as your getting it sounds that way, and you are most likely alone on that thought.
[QUOTE="Allicrombie"]I have a roomie, that's close enough.WollsHope they're house trained they go outside a lot.
Currently my house has one cat, a tank of tropical fish and one gerbil. Our pet history is a bit complex but to some it up, I was brought up with two cats from a very young age, one (Tom) was put down in September 2003 after falling off scaffolding and damaging the nerves in his leg, and the other (Ferrari) died of old age in October 2009 (apparently she died on my birthday). In April 2005 my friend's cat unexpectedly had two kittens and we bought one of them to keep our remaining cat company. We still have her, and her name is Portia.
It seems a bit dangerous keeping a cat in the same house as fish and a gerbil (I won't go into the details of our gerbil history- let's just say we started off with two who were meant to be the same sex...) but she is only allowed in the kitchen and garden so never comes into contact with them.
If your dog died why do you still have it? You should probably get rid of that thing before it turns. I have a dog too, but she's alive.thegergVery funny
