We are all scared of something, wether it's darkness or spiders but some are more afraid as others, so my question to you guys is: Do you have a phobia and if so, for what?

I'll start by saying i have Acrophobia as i am afraid of heights, i will get dizzy and might even trow up if it is high enough...

Bees and wasps, although is not a full on fear I'm just really uncomfortable around them and normally dart away when either of them get to close.

@dylandr: I feel bad that you must be afraid to ride a plane too,as for me.I'm entomophobia(except mosquitoes and flies,as I like to kill them every time I see one) another exception is bee and wasp,as I leave it alone,I don't want to kill them either or my hands will swell

@thehig1:if you don't disturb them,it'll be alright,I've seen people harvesting honey with moderate wasp presence around the boxes, they don't even mind what the wasp is doing, neither does the farmer only take the needed honey.

@dylandr: some planes are big enough it even has a row in the middle, you should definitely get a seat in those rows if you feel like going somewhere outside U.S.

@Smashbrossive50: I know that but fears are not rational.

AnywAy wouldn't say it's full blown phobia I just really don't like being around them.

It's not the fear of being stung it's how furry the bees are and the stripes that freaks me out a bit.

Then you have the chainsaw noise some make haha.

Yeah, we all have fears but not everything we fear is a phobia. I probably won't be caught doing a headstand over an active wood-chipper but that doesn't mean I'm terrified of them =P

As a child I had 2 phobias, heights and speed. Heights because I once fell from quite a height and speed because my father drove like a lunatic. He was a "red lights are for other people" kind of driver...

Eventually I got over my fear of heights (by standing at the edge of a cliff until the feeling went away) and speed (when I started driving) but I still have a problem when it's fast AND high, if it's an unstable ride. For example, plane travel is fine because it's really stable, but I assume a roller-coaster would be a freaking nightmare...it's hard to explain...it's not like I used to break down in tears or start screaming =P It was just this monumental cramp in my stomach that had me doubling over.

I have this:

"Why did it have to be snakes?"

Unless you spend a lot of time in the great outdoors, your chance of actually encountering one is pretty low. If you truly had ophidiophobia, though, you'd worry constantly about the possibility of encountering a snake all of the time. "

Not heights. Not bugs. Not rejection. Not water. Not being shot at. Not speed. Not airplanes.

I dunno. Maybe going to prison and dropping the soap. The thought of becoming someone's b**** terrifies me.

Somehow, being violated by a woman doesn't stir up that much fear in me.

On the other hand, being bent over by a giant psycho named Bruno makes me cringe with fear.

Why don't you try some exposure therapy? Get into a room full of hot naked girls. That'll take care of it.

i never liked giant house spiders.

spiders in general are OK (some are even cute) but the giant house spider always freaked me out a bit.

its the speed of them more than anything else. they can come out of nowhere. they are also poor climbers so they can really come from any direction :S. they can also dissapear again just as quick which makes them even worse. i know they are harmless (though the size of some of them in the last few years....:S) but still.

i dont kill them though...i just catch em and throw them out...and inform them they are bad kittys :P.

Slight claustrophobia when it comes to my body being compressed or restricted in any way (too tight clothing even). Such as something like this:

Small rooms aren't a problem if my body isn't being pressed on.

I think the word phobia is tossed around so much that the meaning of it has gotten lost over the years. A phobia is more than fear, it's something that has such a hold on you that you can't even stand looking at an image of whatever it is that you are fearful of. A lot of people mistake themselves for having arachnophobia because they are scared of spiders but, people with phobias can't stand being in the same room with a visible spider without feeling nauseous with a high heart rate. I'm scared of spiders but I have no phobias whatsoever. I'm just afraid of them because they're poisonous and can harm me. It's human instinct to feel that way about any creature that can do that to you. It doesn't mean that you have a phobia of it.

@foxhound_fox: I don't see many people not being claustrophobic if put in the same situation as the people in those photos...just thinking you can get stuck there is enough to make me feel a bit loopy. As someone who's suffered from really bad asthma, anything that restricts my chest makes me uncomfortable, which would include really tight shirts.

Yeah and of all those the most serious ones are my atelophobia and chronophobia.

I struggled with the social aspect of my atelophobia for years. I had this great teacher that was really inspiring and helped me conquer the social aspect of that fear. But still there are remnants of that fear within me as I'm not capable of carrying out many of my tasks in fear of imperfection. (One of the reasons I post on internet forums is to help that because you’re bound to make grammatical/vocabulary mistakes now and then but you should see me when I make these posts. I use GoogleTranlsate, GoogleSearch, many dictionaries and references just to be sure that I'm not making a grammatical or vocabulary mistake and then I re-read a couple of my past posts every time I sign in just to be sure again.)

As for my chronophobia I can only say that it gets worse day by day.
