So when doomsday arrives will you be one of the people that is helping rebuild humanity or will you be someone who needs saving? I can't grow my own food, I'm no mechanic, I'm no carpenter, I can't weld metal, I can't build a circuit board, and I'm no teacher so all I could see myself doing is being a part of the re-population committee. :)
I would have said no before, but after spending the better part of a year living in Vancouver, I realized I have a lot of outdoor skills and common sense in regards to nature that I previously took for granted. Helps that I've been a member of Scouts Canada for twelve years, helping to build campgrounds, organize camps, and actually help run it at an administrative level. I know how to braid grass into rope, build snares, start a fire (without matches if I really have to. :( ) and know how to recognize and prepare an abundance of foods. (Hands up those of you who know how to prepare raw stinging nettle without getting acid burns. ;) )
I can make really good beer, and could problably run a still if I wanted to as well.
When the end comes, those that are "left behind" are going to need to drown their sorrows. And, considering I'd be trading my supplies with the farming community, I'd likely be set for food :D
If its a post-apocolytpic setting where we need to fight, well, I'd like to think my size, strength, and cat-like agility :Pwould lend itself well to self-defense
I can pretty much do everything with some skill (cook, carpentry, mechanical work, fishing, farming and medical tasks). Plus I can play acoustic guitar which I happen to know is the single most important skill in an end of the world situation.
Well if Battlefield Bad company 2 has taught me anything. Its that I mke a great squad leader. So next time your in a hopless situation with 4 people. Call me.
I can shoot my 38 special very well, and I'm versed in muay thai and brazilian jiu jitsu. Maybe not effective against a zombie hoard, but against normal humans it would help. Although, if anyone was to tapout a group of zombies without being infected, it'd be Royce Gracie
