I would never do this to my pets but my mum was talking to my friends dad about how much one of my dogs barks. He told my mum to give the dog a hard kick in the ribs. My mum and I thought this was pretty terrible.

I would never hit my pets, that's just horrible. Although sometimes I put my cat in a pot of boiling water. (lies)GiveMeIce
Oh my god, I had a horrible feeling in my stomach the split second before I read "lies".

I just kinda flick my dog's ear and say "NO!" She knows she did something bad. (but that is very rare. She's a good dog :D)
awesome name creepingdeath..... Bow to Leper Messiah!nimatoad2000
Yep, I'm a bit of a Metallica fan :).
No, I don't. However, I have wrestled my big dogs.iJeff32
I wrestle my dogs sometimes but they know I'm just playing with them.
I did when I was in Jr High/High school, I'd kick the dog hard in the ribs to vent my anger that I got from teasing. I feel terrible about it, am very deeply guilt ridden, and hope that I can somehow forgive myself for what I did. That poor dog did nothing to deserve it, and it's one of my extreme regrets in life.
Never, never, ever again will I ever hit an defenseless animal. Ironically I go beserk when I see abuse of animals nowadays, and want to kill the owner. I wish someone was there to kick my @$$ in line when I was treating my dog like that.
Rarely. Most animals are pretty responsive to my tone and body posture and react accordingly but occasionally I've had the need to give them a light poke on the nose or forehead area when I want them to know they've really crossed the line. Lord_Daemon
Lol and here I am beating my cat as if he owes me money, you should have told me that earlier.
Well I have a 50 pound dog, and a 20 pound 3 year old cousin. One day my dog jumped on my cousin and hurt him, so I couldn't help but kick my dog in the face.
But hitting them really isn't going to teach them anything, if you keep doing it like that they'll become insecure and not trust anyone.
Well, I don't hit it all the time. Just when it's annoying. And annoying me is people cruelty, so my case is stronger.

Domesticated animals wouldn't survive on their own. If I was a dog, id rather live on a house with people who feed and play with me than be out in the wild, starving and dieing...[QUOTE="shyskillz"][QUOTE="CreepingDeath_"]I would never do this to my pets but my mum was talking to my friends dad about how much one of my dogs barks. Domesticated animals wouldn't survive on their own. If I was a dog, id rather live on a house with people who feed and play with me than be out in the wild, starving and dieing...tru, but they weren't always domesticated, they lived in the wild at some point in time, and some still do. i think the term domesticated just means in short...friendly animals towards people. i see stray dogs and cats all the time and they would live longer if it was a real jungle and not a concrete jungle.
Yeah. Like when the cats go in the kitchen, I would grab them by the next, hold them up to the kitchen, say "NO! Bad cat!" and then smack them repeatedly on the backside. Don't hit pets in the ribs though, you can hurt them like that.
I haven't hit my my pets in a long time though, because they quickly learned to stay out of the kitchen. As long as they've stopped being bad, I don't have to hit them any more.
No. My cats are like people. They do as they please, and I usually let them. When they annoy me, I pick them up and move them somewhere, usually into the bedroom and they lay on the bed and sleep.
My mice...well hitting a mouse would probably kill them, so no. I just put them in their balls and let them run til they settle down.
hit your pet lol? its an animal , it has no idea what its doing. i just go the dog whisperer way and give them alittle neck pinch and go "sssspppss"legend26
But that's the same thing. The whole reason why pinching their necks works is because THEY DO NOT LIKE IT. And the whole reason why it works is because they are able to draw a connection between what they are doing and what you are doing to punish them. They don't like getting pinched, so they stop doing whatever it is that they were doing just before you pinched them.
My pets are awefully small, sometimes a good fling off teh slingshot does teh trick.1mpaler-w6rbnd
Man, you almost made me spit Pepsi all over my monitor with that one!

Dogs don't live in the jungle...Eaither way, animals, more often than not, have it way better as pets than they do in the wild.

Hahaha
But it's true, most pets are actually pretty pampered. I know mine have been. Not all pets are mistreated....
