Some people don't like the band because the lead singer is gay It has nothing to do with their music and I think that is stupid. They are one of my favorite bands. What do you think OT? You like 'em?

I don't listen to metal any more....but when I did Priest was probably my favorite metal band. Still every once in awhile I do have a listen....and Priest is still what I'd consider one of the better metal bands. Orientation has nothing to do with talent and shouldn't be an issue.LJS9502_basicHe farts in public though so he's ready to rock.
Haven't really heard much from them, but I tend to prefer modern Metal over the so-called cIassic stuff.
I am in same position. I will occasionally listen to them or Iron Maiden but I can't classify myself as a metal lover anymore.I used to LOVE them. Can't stand metal anymore though.

I'll ocasionaly listen to them but that's it as far as metal. Used to be a huge metal head though back in the day. Now it makes my ears bleed.I used to LOVE them. Can't stand metal anymore though.

If you don't mind me asking, why such a dramatic change? :?
I could understand it if you just don't like it as much as you used to, moved on to other stuff or whatever, but if you at one point loved something, wouldn't you at least be able to still tolerate it? Why the hate?

I honestly don't know. As I got older, I just liked it less and less and eventually I couldn't stand it at all anymore. I like like more mellow music now like classic rock, oldies and country now. It should be known though that I don't hate ON metal. I still respect the genre. Just don't like it anymore. :)[QUOTE="Pirate700"]For me it's Pantera. It's for people who don't really care about the lyrics all that much, just the music itself. :P
I view screaming/growling as more of an ambience effect than actual singing or a way to deliver a message, and since I listen to music for the music and couldn't care less about lyrics for the most part, that's perfectly fine by me.

I hope it doesn't happen to me though, because I sure LOVE my Metal. :P

The so-called "ambience effect" kills the song for me, unfortunately.[QUOTE="black_cat19"][QUOTE="the_ChEeSe_mAn2"] The only kind of metal that truly makes my ears bleed is the kind where the singer is growling or screaming. It turns me off from listening immediately.the_ChEeSe_mAn2

I've listened to two of their albums: Turbo and the one before it. They're okay by my book.
I listen mostly to alternative rock nowadays. But I fire up Turbo Lover every now and then.
Girls is not really a metal topic.Yeah, I love them. I actually wasn't that surprised when the singer came out of the closet. He never sang about girls. That made him pretty conspicuous :P

Tell that to Sonata Arctica and To/Die/For (just to name two examples).

I don't care at all about any of the band members personal lives. But I don't like their music either.
