Do you like Thrash metal? If so who are your favorite bands?

It's been a while since I've listened to Thrash but I used to be huge into it. My favorite bands in the genre were Voivod, Turbo (Pol), Overkill, Metal Church, Death row, Doom (JP), Mekong Delta, Coroner, Kreator, and such. Never did care for Metallica or Slayer.

Metallica are my favorite band of all time.

Also love overkill going to see them in April, I like exodus I'll be seeing them in March.

I love thrash metal my favorite genre.

Why do they call it trash metal?

Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer. Metallica is overrated IMO.

Love Megadeth,not crazy about Anthrax,or Slayer.Metallica has not come out with a good/decent album since ....And Justice For All.And Yes,they are Majorly Overrated.

Haven't listened to much thrash in a while.

I suppose my current favourite bands of that genre would be Testament, Death Angel, and Kreator.

I hate it just as much as dubstep. It's just noise to me.

Currently Evile is one of my favorites. Their style is close to the old big 4. They bring some new and also represent the classic thrash bands

Yes, some of my favorites are Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Testament, Exumer, Aspid, Municipal Waste, Nailbomb, Evile, Coroner, Vio-Lence, etc.

I think Death Magnetic was good. The production was bad, but the music was good.

In my opinion,Death Magnetic wasn't bad,it was their best album since ....And Justice For All.I don't think Metallica will ever bring back that old style music.I think their washed up,of course again it's my opinion.

Megadeth is definitely my favourite. I like Metallica and Anthrax.

I don't think they will either because I don't think they can. They're getting old. Death magnetic seemed miraculous for their age. I would say that Death Magnetic was just as thrash as ...And Justice for all though. ...And justice for all wasn't all that thrash either. It was a great album don't get me wrong, but compared to even Master of Puppets, much less Ride the lightning or Kill em All, it was a lot tamer. I don't see how anyone could claim that Death magnetic isn't at least as thrash metal as ...and justice for all. Sure the sound is a bit different and has less energy but that's because the band has less energy. The fast riffs and blistering solos are still there. As much as I would like them to, I don't expect them to make another Master of Puppets or Ride The lightning, but that's okay. As long as they make music I enjoy.

Metallica is my favorite thrash metal band. It's a shame they didn't stick with the sound longer than they did though and they came back around when it was too late. I do also like Megadeth and some Slayer.

@Toxic-Seahorse: the age shouldn't stop them making high level energy thrash.

Have you heard any of overkills album lately, they sound the same as in the 80s.

Metallica havnt released enough material for my liking, compared to thrash bands who started around the same time there activity has been dormant especially the last 15 years.

Although Metallica tour a lot, that must take up a lot of their time.

Y-you do? I never thought I'd hear you say that. Is there any chance that what Slayer you like is not from Seasons in the Abyss?

While I am a fan of Seasons in the Abyss I also like a lot of their other material from Reign In Blood all the way to some stuff on World Painted Blood. Not really whole albums, but songs here and there. I like Slayer mostly for the riffs as I find their soloing pretty lackluster. They have some good ass riffs. I wouldn't say I'm a big fan though. They're not a band I go out of my way to listen to but if it's on I'll enjoy it most of the time. I'm more of a progressive metal guy.

I like thrash, but I like its derivatives more because people fused other genres with it and made it more interesting.

thrash is not my favorite , I'm more into Death , Doom and progressive Metal . but I do like Pantera , Megadeth , Slayer , Metallica ( their 80s stuff ) , Overkill and most of all , VENOM .
