when i go shopping i usually will look at the price before i get ahead of myself and go to the counter, but when it comes to sneakers i tend not to care about the price. . is there anything that you will buy regardless of the price ?

I don't look at the price unless I'm comparing two items. If I'm shopping for something it's pretty likely that I need it, therefore I will have to pay the price for it. Literally.

Same...but also add in alcohol at the bar (I don't ask price before I order...though maybe I should)

Well, there's always an upper limit on what I'll pay for anything, but generally speaking I often know approximately what the upper-end will be. On those items I don't bother looking. Things like groceries for instance. I just grab what I want and put it in the cart and don't really know how much it will be until I'm at the register.

Ah yeah supermarket/grocery store shopping is entirely different. I never look at the prices there either (except for some exceptions).

How can you not look at the price at grocery stores? I know the basic value of everything, so looking at the price ensures that I'm not paying more than I should be.

Well I always buy the same stuff (and same brands) so I already know how much they cost, more or less.

I may look occasionally on stuff that I know are high in the price.

But anyway it doesnt mean I just put in the basket all the stuff and dont care about what I am gonna pay at the end. I always make a rough estimation of what I will end up paying so that I dont get out of hand.

EDIT: For instance the other day I thought of buying some soft white cheese, but it cost 6 euros so I thought to myself: "whatever; feta cheese is good too". :P

Because I like the food that I like...and I'm not going to do a lot of driving around town to get the best price on something. For me, grocery shopping is about convenience. I'll go to the close supermarket so I can grab the food that I want and get the whole activity out of the way as fast as possible. It's entirely different from, for example, shopping around for a used video game. I'll linger in stores, agonize over which game to get...think about driving over to the next nearest game store, etc. Because shopping for new games to play is FUN to do. Shopping for new groceries to eat is just a hassle.

Almost never if it's something I want; for idle purchases, or for really big ticket items, I'll look at the price but it is seldom the deciding factor. As an example, the maple syrup we buy is nearly $20/bottle O_O

I'm not talking about the no-brainer, mega-hits sorts of games that you know months in advance that you're going to get. I didn't exactly agonize over preordering ME2 for example. But during the dog days of summer when I'm wandering around a used game store and looking and second or third tier games that I passed on new and am trying to decide on which to get while waiting for the fall releases? Damn...I can spend ages agonizing over those choices.

The first thing I do is look at a price tag. I find things in my price range and go from there. Even if I need something, I won't splurge. I'll always settle for the cheaper version. For example: I needed a new basketball for the summer. I figure prices would be marked down a smidge because it's winter. I was right. There were nice basketballs for $25, some pretty good ones for $15-20. But, I settled on one that was $10 and told myself it was good enough. I also bought the ball that was $9.99 rather than a slightly-nicer one that was $11.99 because that's how my mind operates.

Good man :) Was getting worried reading down, thought I was the only person that always looks at the price of everything before I buy it :? I pay attention to how much clothes cost because I don't like to spend too much for them ( pardon the pun there, tehe :P ) For food and stuff it's more about making my money go further, comparing prices and choosing cheap, filling things... That's probably bad that I'm a self confessed tight arse but it's great for my bank balance and I need to start really saving again to pay for a car

Gas, groceries... basically things I need. I'm more inclined to look at prices if I don't need it.

I can't stand stingy people who go out of their way to get the best price on everything. If you've got two options in front of you, and they are both the same quality, and one is less money, then sure, that's fine. But some people get pretty ridiculous with their attempts at saving. Annoys the **** outta me.

Well, I don't throw money away. Given the choice, I'll spend less or not buy things I don't really want, but I don't sacrifice quality just to save a few bucks, either. Moderation in all things (especially moderation).
