Usually i would look at someone when their talking unless i'm driving or something. When i talk to them i look at them for 3 seconds then look away, is this bad? nah right? so how bout you guys
I find when I'm not really thinking self conciously I look at them directly when they're talking and may split 50/50 between looking away and looking at the person when I'm speaking.
It's an important communication skill. If you don't make eye contact, you will be amazed at the difference once you start.
My old boss used to avoid eye-contact all the time. You could go a week talking to him and he'd never look at you directly. It's hard to take somebody like that seriously.

i think it shouldn't be at AT ALL but maybe for like 3 seconds or so is fine
it depends on the situation. if you're watching a dvd, u can still watch the movie and talk to the person. and sometimes i tend to let my eyes wander around a room while talking to people. but like if you say hi or bye to somebody, yeah you look them in the eyes and wave. and a hot girl, yeah u stare them in the eyes and give them a smile. i think it depends mostly on how formal the conversation is and how well you know the person.

Me too, but don't have this problem when I'm with someone I feel comfortable with. It just happens when I'm conscious of it. It's also a problem because I think about where I'm looking so much that I stop paying attention to what's being said. >_>

With friends yea i do....but its a big no no when with elders as its a culture here (as a respect to them) never ever to look at their eyes when they are talking to you (even if you are are argue or disagree with them).
I usually tend to when im trying to get a point across, I do it all the time when I talk to any of my teachers or parents. It bugs me sometimes cause one of my teacher flat out looks at the wall for some reason while I'm talking to them.
I do all the time....as a manager you kinda get into the habit, it makes whatever you are saying seem more important, though it is hard to keep the other person looking at you, it does do a lot to make the point clear.
