It's an important communication skill. If you don't make eye contact, you will be amazed at the difference once you start.
My old boss used to avoid eye-contact all the time. You could go a week talking to him and he'd never look at you directly. It's hard to take somebody like that seriously.

i think it shouldn't be at AT ALL but maybe for like 3 seconds or so is fine

yeah i know i do the same thing, but then im like damnit im doing it again and look back at their eyesclock_of_omensMe too, but don't have this problem when I'm with someone I feel comfortable with. It just happens when I'm conscious of it. It's also a problem because I think about where I'm looking so much that I stop paying attention to what's being said. >_>

Do what I do any multi-task! :oI usually tend to when im trying to get a point across, I do it all the time when I talk to any of my teachers or parents. It bugs me sometimes cause one of my teacher flat out looks at the wall for some reason while I'm talking to them.
