A lot of the people I know seem to think that going to the movies alone is weird and an odd thing to do, yet I don't really mind, I believe I get the same overall experience with or without people. You'r opinions?

When you're there you're not alone though, sit next to a pretty person and it's even better.KiIIyou
Inless the movie theater is packed, your going to look like a massive creeper sitting right next to some one when half the movie theater is empty.
I have done it once or twice. And it was fine. The only times I've had the urge to do so is if I just need to get away from everyone. When you're in a relationship, and you work in an office, you find you are CONSTANTLY around someone else. So sometimes you just have to go someplace where everyone else shuts the f up for a while.
I rarely go to the movies. But when I do, it's with a friend. I doubt I'd go there by myself. 2ndWonderSame here.

I never o to the movies alone :P If nobody wants to go then I just wait for it on dvd. Only movie I have ever went alone to was Toy Story 3.
why does going to the movies in to days society ment for couples only? Its for personal satisfaction.
I figure it's too much effort to go alone. 12 bucks for a ticket, double that if I'm hungry, I have to get to the theater which is one hell of a walk or more money spent on the bus fare, and I don't even get to spend time with a friend? I'll just rent it later.
No I do it all the time as I often go to watch all types of films that my friends just aren't interested in watching.
I've never been alone I would feel too embarrased! If I really want to see a film that none of my friends/family would want to see I will just wait for it to be released and watch it at home.

Embarrased? why? when did the Movies became some sort of mandatory place where you don't go alone.
People have a stigma about doing things like going to movies without other people. People think it weird and have an odd feeling if they were to attempt to do it. Honestly, how much do you talk during a movie if you get there right when it starts. Then afterwards, you can just go home or go do something with some friends. I have a hard time getting my friends to go to movies, so I started going by myself a few years back. It was strange at first but then I remember a friend telling me, "don't ever let what anyone thinks, keep you from doing what you want to do." This would apply in this situation. Once I got used to it, I found that it was kind of nice. A me time activity where I would go and just enjoy the movie by myself. I prefer to go later at night or during the day when there is no one in the theater and it's kind of like my own private showing. I hate going when it's ridiculously crowded, whether I go with anyone or not. I have seat preferences in the middle so I can put my feel up on the rail or something. It's not as bad as you think once you get used to it.
I sometimes go to the movis myself now and then, if there's any films that catch my attention that no one esle likes.
Everyone I know finds it weird, sad and pathetic. But I don't. I watch films alone almost every day in my room and although I have never gone to the movies alone, I expect that I would if I wanted to watch a film but had no one to go with.

I don't think seeing movies at home alone is odd at all. Going to the movies alone would be sort of awkward though.
