Yes Tupac did go to school, in fact he was an avid reader interested in poetry and acting. Anyway, since when did having a basic education make someone intelligent? You do realise there are people who are just naturally intelligent and don't require an education to display this intelligence?

I'd say you need to be as intelligent as any other field if you want to be successful. Too be a rapper nowadays you pretty much have to learn to do 3 things, first record a record, second run a lable, and third rap. Some rappers can get signed off the streets but almost everybody in the business cut their own album before getting picked up. In all honesty it's not as easy as it sounds to do these 3 things, and you really need to know what you're doing so you don't screw yourself. I'd say you either need to be a fairly smart person, or have alot of smart people around you.

Now as for what type of smart you have to be is debatable. There are alot of smart people that don't do well in schools, and it's hard judging a persons intelligence without a close observation of their activities.

alright what is that 1 out of 5-8 classes???? And nobody gets into conversations about this stuff.... i know i sound like one of those whiny high school kids that dont feel like doing their math homework...but it really is the truth...you dont use anything you learn from school in real life....even your teachers will admit that... only class where im interested in learning anything is spanish...i can actually use that...

depends. if you want to be some cotton candy-ass rapper like Unk, D4L, Franchize Boyz, etc, then no, you dont. all you need to do that is street cred. But if you want to be a GOOD rapper, than yes, and youll probably have to focus on the language that you are going to rap in, including the poetry in that language.

Just like any musician/singer/rapper intelligence plays a role in the finished product. If the person isn't very smart, then it will likely be uncreative and uninteresting. You don't need to be smart to be a singer, rapper, or a musician, however, it helps in actually making good music. I don't get why people always single out Rap as this "inferior" genre. When in reality most people who speak bad about it have likely heard less than 1% of the Rap/Hip Hop out there. I see no need to single out Rap, it's just a different genre of music. (Please for the love of god don't quote this and say "rap isn't music blololol" because Rap = rhythm/flow, rhythm = music. Simple math.)

peice, 9, glock, tech, 9 [[tech 9]], gat, strap, steel, heater, heat ALL mean "gun" or "pistol" in the rap world.

dimepeice, quarterpiece *insert-coin-name-here*peice ALL mean a woman (alternatives include, but are not limited to: a *****, hoe, ho, whore, female, fe', redbone, yellowbone, *insert-color-here*bone, etc)

EDIT forgot to mention:

ice, jewelry, jewels, bling, white, shine, diamonds, grill, headlights(reffering to earrings), freezer, freeze, snow, etc ALL mean jewelry.

im from TX, so i know colorful vocabulary when i see it.

Let's see.... English is partially important (only the writing parts that is), Math is pointless (past middle school), Science is useless (past middle school), Spanish is pretty important, History is important, did I miss anything?

To get popular in rap, then certainly not, to maybe have any hope of making anything even remotely worth listning to, then yes, and a good education in music, at least to be able to call it music, which most rappers can't do.
