Do You Or Have You Dated A Controlling Woman/Man?

I've witnessed alot of people, even a few close people to me just live unhappy because they have a controlling girlfriend/boyfriend. What throws me off is that they complain about being un-happy, wanting to leave, etc.....I personally have dealt with a controlling female before...she was sexy as hell, i mean FINE, in the bedroom was excllent. But with all that, she walked around like she was God's gift to men, and she tried to control me and tear me away from my passions. I don't feel like any human being is worth being miserable for. Thats just my opinion

It is usually a combination of psychological ailments and deficiencies that lead to such maladaptive behavior. You remove these and the individual suddenly realizes "what the **** am I doing with this person" and just like that they get out.

I agree with @GazaAli; most people I've known in that situation are those with your average "I probably can't get any better, don't deserve any better and it beats being alone" mentality. Of course some people are good at hiding their obsessive behaviour for years and when they finally let it out there's a home, a family, children and it's harder for their partner to just step out but I'm of the opinion that staying together for your kids when your relationship sucks is the worst thing you can do for them...I wanted my parents to get a divorce so badly...

Yep been living with a girl who was like that when I was in college and she was my roommate.

I absolutely hate controlling / scheming / manipulating people. I strictly avoid or run away from them.

Currently a friend is going out with a girl who is pretty controlling and adept at making him miserable... it's sad to see, and he won't listen to reason, at least not yet.

I won't know until I fall in love with and go out with a girl like that, but I don't think I'd be able to handle that bs for long.

Weak minded fool he is. When a girl has full control over his man, that right there tells you he's weak so he deserve it and it's his own fault for not seeing the light. The Strong lives, the weak perish.

It's easy you say f- off or f-that once or twice when they are controlling you too much. They freak out? Leave 'em! They say "Oh im sorry do what you want."

Practically all the women who had dumped me in the past fell into that category. They had the looks. They had the figure. They knew they were hot. They wanted to be the center of everything. They were also too sentimental for my tastes. I had other things going on in my life such as career. But, all of my ex-girlfriends always wanted attention. Just like a baby, they'll make noise if they feel they're not getting enough attention. They thought I didn't care enough for them. Alpha females.......Sheesh.

My wife is sort of controlling. She demands all my money. She demands making the house hers. But, she makes concessions if I start complaining. If I forget her birthday, she'll just ask for a rain check. She also doesn't care for flowers at Valentine's Day. She rather I use the money to take her out to a fine restaurant. Even if I wanted to give her flowers she'll say no because we have to carry the thing around. I like practical women. They're so hard to find. None of that sentimental BS and her sulking for a week. We treat each other like friends (with "privileges," of course).

But, yeah. I've seen my share of alpha females.

Yes, and it was my first real relationship, and pathetically, I thought that's how relationships were supposed to be, that nothing was wrong with it. Boy was I wrong. She ended up cheating on me.

I'd say that the first step would be to analyse your own situation and figure out why you feel stuck...sometimes all it takes is to remove a pebble to get the big boulders rolling =)

I feel trapped by a certain individual lately. Can't avoid his good nature and charms, feel drawn to him always when i'm looking for a freind to talk to.

I have no idea why you want out. But, tell her pointblank why you want out. She may go haywire and try to gouge your eyes out. No way to sugarcoat it. I seem to have had no problems getting dumped when I was single. ;-)

If you tell her the truth why you want out, perhaps she may change for the better. Otherwise, it may dawn on her that you two are mutually incompatible and let you go.

yeah, there's a learning curve but once you get to the stage where you can chain him to your bed so he won't run away, you've got it made. Whips and a nice riding crop do help, however.

I'm no expert on obsessions. But, my wife watches a lot of Investigation Discovery. There's a series in it that are about obsessions. Many of the episodes didn't end well.

If you can't deal with it, time to get professional help before it controls you.
