I used to be a chess player. I was part of this northern Indiana school that hand selected "overachieving" kids and put them all in the same classes. It was ridiculous how good some of those people were.
Turns out, after a few years losing to state champions weekly, I never lose to anyone else. I haven't lost since I left that program in middle school (so about 10 years ago), and trust me I've tried. I kind of wish someone would beat me now to take the pressure off.
Are you any good OP? Maybe you can break my streak :).
Chess is no longer as interesting as it was in the past. Today strong chess engines on very strong hardwares can beat almost everyone at chess. Hell, the computer even surpassed Garry Kasparov and even current chess world champion Viswanathan Anand admitted that the computer is already stronger than he isat chess.
i used to be in it tell i found me some friends that showed me the game of BASKETBALL. i was really good but now wow i really suck at chess. i focused on basketball to much and i forgot about chess. i still watch my dad play chess though. its funny cuz he always yell at the other players on yahoo chess :P
I'm okay for a recreational player. I do beat all my dorm-mates regularly though - it annoys the engineering and mathematics students to no end that a history major can beat them at a game of logic. :P

To be honest, it was really so much that I was very good, rather that the other kids were bad. Sorry to dissapoint.
I did for a little while on my iPod, but now I don't. I would like to play it, but I can just never get into it. When I play chess I'm alright at it.:D
I lack the type of spatial reasoning that allows me to plan moves ahead, and have never been able to develop it despite spending a fair amount of time trying, so I haven't played chess in years.
I had been playing chess in my school years ago and also played in my PC, but not always. I'm looks like kinda boring of classic-styled chess and i'll would be dreamed of military-styled chess that no one still ever modify the chess characters and someone will do it.
