My friends mom (don't go there) was surprised when she discovered I don't handwrite at the age of 16. I was surprised that she was surprised. I am certain that only like 2 people in my grade even know how to handwrite. I mean I can struggle through it but I can't remember all the capital letters and junk. I print because it is way neater. How about you?

Handwriting? Does that mean cursive? If so, I barely remember, it's so useless.

I learned how to do cursive writing in school, and then once it was no longer required, I never used it again thereafter (except for signing my name).

Oh THAT type of printing. Yeah, screw cursive. I always print, it's much neater.

Don't worry I had a similar meaning of his post... I print myself.

For the most part I print. Occasionally, though, I will write in cursive.

I had an English 101 teacher who made us do all our essays in cursive, it was horrible I hadn't been forced to write in cursive since like the 4th grade so it would take me 3 times longer than it should have to write my papers.

I heard that cursive was being taught at schools for the first time here on OT, and I got to say its utterly stupid and pointless. ...imo.

Ditto, I haven't used cursive (besides signing my name) in years. Besides being more time consuming, it is far more difficult for other people to understand my cursive. At least with printing, even if your messy, people can still make out what your writing.

I was forced to learn cursive but I haven't used it since... besides signing my name of course.

I use cursive. I write much faster, although it's pretty messy.

I learned how to handwrite in elementary school, and after that never used it again. With the exception of my signature, everything else that I write, I print.

Printing is a style of handwriting. So I didn't understand what you were asking.. and decided you must be talking about printing in comparison to cursive. As far as I know the only person that uses cursive anymore is my grandparents. I was taught how to write cursive in grade school.. because supposedly it's a faster style of writing. Which, I don't think is true at all from experience. Unless you put a lot of practice into it.. it'll just end up sloppy and unreadable.

Yep, same. I could write cursive really well in elementary school, but now the only thing I can write in cursive is my signature. lol
