Says the guy with the most posts on Gamespot...

I usually do, seeing as how it proves they've been here a while and understand what goes down when it comes to posting.

You mean do I take people with a lot of posts more seriously? No. Everyone's entitles to their own views IMO.

Not really, everyone can get a high post count if they lurk around System wars for a long enough time...

A lot of the high post counts are from spam or one or two word posts. You learn after awhile who writes decent posts and who is going for the high count.

Depends... not really, i can see a guy with 1 post and tell what type of person he is by that post (whether it be serious or stupid) But if there's a guy with a large post count the chances are i've seen quite a few of his posts already and tend to know that person and know his views and such.

So not really...

Not at all. Like some people are saying, some people with high post counts spam a lot. I've got no respect for the people who spam to get their post count up so they can get respect.

It has some influence. Generally, people with high post counts tend to be more veteran posters, but I still look more closely at the content of their statement.

Ya know this is a funny topic. Typically people will say "no" but from what I have experienced elsewhere, I have to say "yes". Yes quality > quantity but newer people will usually take those who have high post counts more seriously mainly based on the fact they feel that they are well known, know the forums well, typically confident, and "experienced". I know some look at my post count and think "NEWB!" but on another forum I have over 12,000 posts and, at a risk of sound self centered, well liked by many. Also I've been registered with gamespot for over 4 years but have been actively visiting this siteway longer than that, but do I expect people to take me more seriously because of that? No.

Another factor into it is that you can make the most well thought out andwell written posts but if you don't do it often, people will forget about the post and you. People will usually take the poor advice of thosethey recognize than the good advice from the random "newb" (note: not saying that those with high post counts give bad advice or anything, just making an example :P )

The only thing you should take seriously around here are the rules and the people who enforces the rules upon you, not the people who actually are enforcers of the rules cos some of them are actually cool :P. Plus ignore all high post count people :P..

It's been my experience here from observing posting habits, that most people do ignore low post counts and talk to the high post counts. You can deny it all you want, but it's there.

Not necessarily. But it gives a better first impression, the general douches either get banned or leave before they get 5k posts.

Of course. Though it's not 100%. There are a few...very few...good posters with low post counts. The majority of respectable posters have more experience, understand what makes OT work, and have higher post counts.

yes, I tend to

why? people with high postcounts have invested more time in the community and therefore are less likely to be rude 'n stuff

but, there are exceptions to every rule ofcourse

hmmmmm, yeah i guess, i never really thought about it. but now that you mention it, its logical to take them more seriously. but i think i would take a person with a higher GS level more seriously than a person who is at like level 12 and has 50,000 posts.

The usually find myself taking more notice of the people behind the post counts to see who I take seriously although the people with higher post counts tend to be more reliable with their post quality (sometimes).

I don't usually consider someone with more posts or a higher level than others as more important, its quality not quantity that counts when it comes to replies.

Alot of people spam the boards with utter rubbish, I compile certain groups that I put established users in. For example there is : "The relevant posters" "The Intelligent posters" "The Spammers" and so forth.
