It's not rotting my mind, but is certainly draining away my life (not like I'd actually do anything productive with it anyway).

I do not know if video games rot your mind but they sure do not develop it except in rare circumstances.

I think videogames, like television and other forms of digital media, do have the potential to influence the way your mind works.

But rot your mind? Only if you play at an insane level and ignore just about everything else. . .

Nope, like any piece of artistic media; whether they be novels, movies or games, all have a positive effect on those with creative imaginations and helps improve your ability to think critically. That and video games improve hand-eye coordination.
