Do you because they have made movies for almost everything and now are thinking about movies based on video games.

Too many remakes of older movies. Nothing original.

of course they're running out of ideas. You have Monopoly as mentioned above, you have a Far Cry movie made by yours truly Uwe Boll, you have The Hottie And The Nottie with Paris Hilton (obviously not video game based, but really. wtf?), and some half-assed parody movies like Meet The Spartans (though i havent actually seen it, it looks lame)

They ARE out of idea. Hollywood is one of the worst sources of movies anyway, if they have any creative control, the movie will be terrible.

Hollywood is not the best place to look for new ideas because studios want to make money and they aren't going to risk it by trying something new that might flop. I think people shouldn't look for originality anymore because it would lead to dissapointment, but there are filmmakers that do try something that has already been done and do it in a different way.

Meh, it's about the same as always. If you look back a few decades ago, we had alot of book remakes. Now we have remakes of older movies. The problem isn't really with Hollwood chocking out new ideas, it's the people who pay to go see those rehashed ideas, over and over again. So remember kids, piracy gets you better movies :) (Not really)

Maybe. It seems many movies these days are remakes of older ones.

There will always be ideas for movies. Whether of not they are good ideas is yet to be seen.

Agreed, for the most part. They still make a few movies. I like The Departed.

They never run out because they reflect current affairs, future fears and society as a whole...which always changes.

No...There have been a lot of good movies recently, and until the following movies are made I will not rest:

  • An unabridged version of Hamlet starring Johnny Depp (Do you realize there is only ONE unabridged film of Hamlet, the best play ever???)
  • The Canterbury Tales unabridged with the stories acted out true to the text, with middle English narration.
  • The rest of the Harry Potter films starring the original actors

Okay that's all I can think of right now....but those would be GREAT to see! Johnny Depp would be a killer Hamlet.
