As in, being conscious of our involuntary actions like how our liver filters stuff and controlling our heart beats? and our muscle growth since the mind tells the body to repair itself. Do you think this will happen, or do you think even MORE things will become unconscious and then our entire life and bodies and how we act will be all instincts?

that sounds like more work. i like how my body does things on its own. like i don't have to think to breath, i just do.

We ain't evolving if we have to rely on concious thought to do meanial tasks OP. As Crimson said.

Involentary functions are instincts, inscects run on pure instincts and they are genrally considered the most basic form of life(apart from bactirium). So as time goes on and our brains evolve we probably will take on more tasks consciously.

External stimuli causes a response in cells of living things. We are concious of our reality through sensory organs and their interactions. Some organisms have highly acute senses that you could say was done almost by instinct. Whether we evolve to this level, only time will tell.

well if we do ever gain full control of our bodies thats the day we will all start dying. Most people find doing two things at once hard... imagine telling your heart to beat, what your liver to filter, how much blood cells to create which cells to reproduce which parts of your body to heal, your hair to grow... just a very small sample of all the stuff you would have to do leaving ut some biggies like breathing and stuff. Yep humans are screwed if they gain full control of their bodies....

We don't have enough time. I think we'll be extinct before we have chance to take control of our minds. The next controlling race of Earth will maybe but I don't know.

Of course, no. First, we can't even control our instincts, second, we don't have enough time. Humans will destroy themselves in a few hundred years.

Those sorts of functions are involuntary for a reason. For some people its already hard enough to control the most basic functions such as eating with you mouth closed or not farting in an elevator.

Well, if you consider the fact that EVERY person posseses emotion (which include greed, lust and hate) and what we have done to the Earth in our short time inhabitiing it you'd realize that this is not pessemistic, but rather realistic :P You see these old men in the oil industry are too GREEDY to make the conversion to more efficient and less polluting fuel for vehicles, which is one of the things that is messing up the Earth. Another emotion which I forgot to mention, pride, is the cause of how many wars??? Emotions are one of the main reasons why people just don't get along. Someone thinks they're better than someone else or is entitled to something through some sort of divine or status right and you get conflict which boils into war/crime/hate or what have you. There are good people, but they are either too few, not in a powerful enough position, or get corupted. Actually anyone can bring about change, it's just that a lot of people are too chicken **** to actually do anything. Look at how extreme gas prices are and no one is willing to boycott gas??? This is such a joke, A LOT of people need the wake up and realize how they're living their lives as the subserveient (sp?) corporate bend over boy/girl. Like I said Bampaz is not being pessimistic, rather realistic :)

We'd be able to change what's menial or not on the fly

Walking could be automatic but breathing could be manual

It all comes with human evolution of thought control

Heart control is something that's already possible. I can do it.

Sure it's possible to fully control the body, but how lame would that be to either go to sleep and die because my body isn't capable of keeping the heart beating because I don't think it so...or just lose our ability to sleep (dream) and live like ants?

It wouldn't be efficient to control every flesh and bone, that's why individual cells function collectively to meet the needs of the organism.

How would we be able to control hormones then?PETRE21

well technically humans have already got crude ways of altering hormones... we can inject our selves with loads of testosterone to make ourselves better at athletics, women can take pills full of oestrogen(either that or some other one) to prevent pregnacy etc etc

and now that I think about it humans probably could at some point... gain full control, not by "darwinian evolution" but if we could get like sort of little microchips and stuff. We could interrupt the sub-conscious electrical impulses(what the body uses to tell it to do stuff) and replace them with artificial ones. Stuff like that has alredy been done with artificial limbs too i think. but it would be very easy to screw things up and kill people once we try and take over essential pocesses like telling our heart to beat.

Evolution will not come about from us controlling our body in a conscious sense, but rather nano computers will perform tasks for us (muscle growth as someone said, is a good example). In effect, the body will not become as tired and cells will not die as quickly, thereby living longer as a species.

Doing this all naturally will make us deteoriate quicker than we already do, and thus, it's a step back.

The average Human doesn't even use 10% of their brain's.So,what do you think?
