It is possible, but the subject has to be a willing subject and suggestions like cluck like a chicken don't really work. Hypnosis can however be used to help recover forgotten memories, or to implant simple suggestions that are benificial to the subject.

I'm not sure, I am doubtful on it, but I can see where it could be possible too. I'd have to see it happen to someone before fully beleiving it though

Yes and no.

If a person is willing, someone CAN actually get into his mind, so to speak. If a person is not willing to co-operate, it won't work at all. Why? In hypnosis the patient does 50% of the work himself, they just don't know that:)

its not.  the person being hypnotized wants to beleive they can be hypnotized, so they follow along with the commands of the hyponotizer unconciously.  Its all a question of suggestion.

If you mean hypnosis in the sense you can make someone do anything then no, if you mean it in the sense you can trick optimistic airheads into barking like a dog then yes.  Watch Derren Brown he does this cool stuff.

Not sure, but it's not much of a challenge when it comes to the things coming on tv.

The genuines that choose to stay from the camers, however...that's the real journey of understanding worth taking.

Of course it's real, it's just a state of sleep when there's very low brain activity.

I've never been hypnotized before, so no. I won't believe something as bogus as hypnosis until I've actually experienced it.

Yes.  I went to one of those shows where they hypnotize some "volunteers" in the audience.  It was hilarious - they make them do crazy things.  I knew some of the people since it was at my college.  They can't hypnotize everybody - so they kick the ones off the stage that it doesn't work on.

"An artificially induced altered state of consciousness, characterized by heightened suggestibility and receptivity to direction"

Well, under that definition, it could mean something different for everyone.

I've been hypnotised before and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. It wasn't one of those stage thingies as I know a friend who does it professionally.

Instead of being told to perform actions "against my will" I wanted to travel to other places in my mind. It starts off as just your imagination and then becomes more and more real. Objects within the illusion develop credible attributes such as smells, textures and temperature. It really is hard to grasp that your mind is making it all up.

I don't know how I could vote no to this question.
