the reason i say this is because i was talking to my friend who's in the British army and we got talking about his resent tours of duty and he said that he had recently served along side a few Italian troops and he said that there well trained but there equipment is like ten years out of date so i look it up on Google and found out that as of January 1st 2007 Italy became a non permanent member on the council an this coupled with Italy poor economic performance in resent years is it time they were kicked off ?

Well they aren't permanent members, they are temporary elected members whenever they're on it. Its only like two year term. They won't be on there for long if they are on it right now. Permanent members are United States, United Kingdom, Russia, People Republic of China, and France. Italy is only represented Western Europe in terms of some policies. Isn't there more problems with Vietnam, Libya, Panama, etc the other temporary members? Its not really a big deal.

in essence, the G8 are permanent, the rest are temporary... so it's not a 'big' deal that italy is temp. So no, they shouldn't be kicked off.

wasn't there an argument between Italy and Germany about who should get the spot on the security council if you ask me they should have given it to Germany ;)
