Do you think it's easier to make friends at a public high school?

I got to a 400 student private school and have been there all of my life. I know it depends on the public school, but has anyone had any experience to tell me if it's easier to make friends at a public high school? Are people more open minded? People are judging at my current private school and I've known most of these people since the elementary school, so there really isn't anyone new to meet. And few people share my interests so it's not easy to relate to a large amount of the community.

people will judge you just as much at a public school, but it'll probably be easier to make friends as long as you aren't shy. if you're shy then you're f*cked.

That depends on who i'm with and weather or not I feel like talking ( usually not when i'm sleep deprived).

I have to say yes. I am on a private school at moment, but at public schools people are more sociable. Don't know why though.

It might be, but it really depends if the people are open minded or not, it really doesn't matter too much if its public or private school.

(I havn't seen you in the longest T/C welcome back ;P)

I don't think it is really easier to make friends at a public school, but it might be easier if there is a larger pool of people.

I think it depends on the school and how much of a socializing person are you. My school had like 5 transfer students last year that all came from private schools, and I befriended all of them quickly so they don't feel left out. Then I proceed to take them to each group where they belong... I feel like a match maker in some sort o_O

^ I don't agree with this statement. I'm shy, and when I changed to a public school I made ton of more friends than I would have made in a private school.

Having only 400 kids at your school is probably the problem. My school has 2000 and I don't consider it that big.

Yes, if you're at a private school then yeah your social circle is going to be pretty limited. At least that's how it was for me when I was stuck in a private school for 10 years. When I finally got to high school, I met more interesting and fun people than I ever did at a private school.

i find public schools to find alot of people that are friendlier to you to start out with while private school people may be just as friendly but it takes a while to get to them
