economacly, they did it once in 2008 but failed due to the crisis. I am proud to be a half russian and of my people its a cool race, when russia collapsed in the 90s they were like a thrid world country but now they are an eurasian power house.

with the massive spike in oil prices...probably.

I don't know if their corruption helps or hinders their economy. Also I saw something the other day that said a lot fo Russian woman have resorted to selling their own hair for the U.S./western hair extension market. So if their economy is strong, it doesn't completely reflect on the standard of living.

Standards of living is fairly high in the big cities...its in the more isolated places that HDI falls dramaticlly.

In Moscow (which is now the most expensive city in the world), living standards are very high, comparable roughly to the US. Its in the war torn cacauses and the far east that living standards tend to fall dramaticlly.

What I saw was definitely in the western cities/areas such as Moscow (generally ranked 3rd or 4th behind places like Tokyo). No real surprise that the eastern regions would not be well off. The area is mainly dotted with small towns and isolated villages.

the gdp per capita is 10.000 now thats actually just like other east european countries in eu and nato, in 2016 it will be 23.000
